ATM dispenses gold bars
Next time you’re in Abu Dhabi and have to get some gold in a hurry (and we’ve all been in that situation, right?), you can just drop in to the Emirates Palace hotel, pop a few bills into the ATM and walk out with gold bars. The machine, Gold To Go, monitors gold prices and automatically updates its pricing every 10 minutes.
According to Emirates Palace, the machine has a range of built-in security features, including anti-money-laundering software. We suspect it also comes with some sky-high fees or commissions. But we suppose that anyone who needs to convert cash to gold so quickly that they’ll use this, probably isn’t worried about that (though we suspect that they may be a little concerned about that anti-money-laundering software).
Another component of vending machine utopia exists in Japan — BEER:
With a third component — a cannabis vending machine, which doesn’t exist anywhere now — useless fiat ‘bills’ could be converted to real money or to transient dreams.
Welcome to the workers’ paradise!
This is old news, its been in German airports for some time now…
Is that a tray of gold dust in your hand, dear, or a steaming schnitzel?
Somehow I recall Ben Frankllns being rolled up and used for “other” things. Mabye we should have a thread devoted to all the uses of American currency after the crash. It could prove useful when rolling papers are no longer available. Now back to my transient dreams.
You keep thinking MH that’s what you are good at.
It’s interesting that the sign next to it is in Russian. Sort of like here where everything has a Spanish translation next to it.
