Conference on Peak Oil & Community Solutions in Rochester, MI this Weekend

By cmartenson on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 - 8:01pm

Note:  A reader (John) asked me to post this. There's a great line-up of speakers and if I were closer I would certainly attend.

This year's conference, a cooperative effort between Community Solutions and Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center, is organized around the recently published book, Plan C: Community Survival Strategies for Peak Oil and Climate Change, by Pat Murphy, of Community Solutions. The book, and this conference, "point to the life we must lead, if we are to survive on this planet."

At this groundbreaking conference participants will explore strategies for reducing energy use in the areas of housing, food and transportation, including both theory and practice. Attendees will learn survival strategies for growing food, creating local food security in their communities, retrofitting their homes to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and educating their communities to prepare for the difficult times ahead. The conference offers presentations from world sustainability leaders, panel discussions, award-winning films, sustainability tours, a Green Living Expo and entertainment, as well as many opportunities for community building including a “Connection Café” networking session.

It’s not too late to register on-line at or at the door. Prices start at just $15 for individual sessions and group discounts on weekend passes are available. Join us for the challenging and inspiring event.
