Put in your seed order early!

I know what grows here and have most of my seeds saved. For the rest, I just did my seed order for next year. Because I did it online I saw many things are already sold out. This has been an increasing trend for the last few years, so I urge you to order early.

As people get more and more aware of the coming ecomonic hardships, or lose their jobs or have their taxes raised, kitchen gardens are getting more and more popular. And that means the seeds are going to go fast. Plan your garden now and beat the rush!

Note: Three years ago I spent over $200 on seeds the first year I gardened in this new-to-me climate, because I was experimenting with what worked here and with saving seeds. I only spent $59 in seeds for this year. This is a good investment: We saved over $300 net on produce and net $400 on canned fruits and vegetables last year.

Just another reason to buy open-pollinated (non-hybrid) heirloom seeds. And to save your own seeds.

Here's what I bought from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange (SESE) and Park Seed. What did you buy?

SESE: limit $50 – spent $47

Buy from Park Seed: limit $10, spent $12
