Learn how to build this very interesting and different way to stack wood.  I might just have to try building a "Holz Hausen".

Why is this better?

That looks cool, but is this a better way to stack wood, and if so why?

We're trying out using 5 pallets put together as a sort of bin that can be moved with a loader's forks, so a bunch can be quickly and easily moved. About 50 pallets (scrounged and free) = 10 such units. Since we're also using rocket mass heaters, the wood is split into thin pieces so stacking them this way doesn't waste as much space as it would if we were stacking larger traditional sized split wood.
