Economy

Two Legends Just Issued Major Alerts (Kevin J.)

Oil, Contagion Concerns, And Even The Election Weigh On Markets – Once again weakness in crude helped send equity prices lower. Energy stocks took a sound pounding.

State of The Transition, mid – late January: Oil oversupply, shale bankruptcies, gas leaks, and a whiff of securities fraud (PBD)

The oil price has fallen below $30 now: lower than it has been since 2013. The International Energy Agency warns that the oil market may “drown in oversupply” in 2016. The Saudis keep pumping, the warm weather is depressing demand, Iran is re-entering the global market now that nuclear sanctions are over, and so on.

Negative Interest Rates Already in Fed’s Official Scenario (PBD)

In Switzerland, punishment interest already causes “perverse unpredictable effects,” as mortgage rates have started to soar. It’s wreaking havoc in Denmark and Sweden. Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz let the idea float that he’d unleash punishment interest to destroy the Canadian dollar. The Bank of Japan announced Friday morning – timed for maximum market effect – that it too would inflict negative interest rates on its subjects.

The Global Economy Could Fall Farther and Faster Than Pundits Expect (Aaron M.)

In the financial realm, fragility builds as the system relies ever more heavily on marginal lenders, borrowers, buyers and investments for its "growth." The current "recovery" (smirk) is completely dependent on marginal lenders (China's shadow banking), borrowers (auto buyers taking subprime 7-year loans), buyers (corrupt Chinese officials buying $3 million homes in Vancouver B.C. with their ill-gotten gains) and investments (empty malls, empty factories, stock buy-backs, etc.).

Another Hillary Falsehood: She Didn't Tell Banks to "Cut It Out" Pre-Crisis; She Blamed Homeowners (richcabot)

But Clinton didn't simply pretend to do something she didn't. She abjectly falsified her history. In the debate, she said she went to Wall Street in December 2007. That much she did do. But rather that get tough with financial firms as she claimed, she went with the "everyone's to blame" line, which of course means no one is to blame...except for those greedy borrowers.

Investors Heading for Slaughter One More Time-David Stockman (pinecarr)

Stockman warns the next crash will be bigger than any other in history. Stockman, the best-selling author of “The Great Deformation,” says, “I think we have been building a bubble year by year since the early 1990’s. The earlier crashes that we are so familiar with, Dot Com and the Housing Crash, were only interim corrections that were not allowed to work their way clear. The rot was not effectively purged from the system because central banks jumped back in within months of the corrections and doubled down in terms of the stimulus and liquidity that they pumped into the market.”

Gold to Beat Stocks? (Aaron M., Axel M.)

The chart shows the dollar started to underperform after the Fed was introduced in the early part of last century, then in earnest during the Great Depression. We also read into this chart that the credit driven super cycle that started at the end of the Great Depression was at the expense of the dollar.

A Giga Breakout In A Mid-Sized Gold Miner (Taki T.)

As the price of gold is surging, gold miners are going higher as well. We are not including the charts of the gold mining indexes like GDX or HUI, as they only show a recovery from a major bottom. For this article, we have chosen to focus on one particular gold miner with an extremely constructive chart setup. It is a mid-sized miner, with a market cap of $3B, production from one important gold mining, several exploration activities, production of 505k ounces of gold in 2015, and a cash position of $160M at the end of 2015.

Ambitious TPP trade deal signed (Mark C.)

The ambitious Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) has been formally signed in Auckland even as the US struggles to get the pact ratified in Congress. The trade deal looks to facilitate investment between 12 countries across the Pacific Rim, which together account for about 40% of the global economy.

This includes Singapore, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Mexico. The TPP was agreed in October after years of negotiations and multiple missed deadlines.

Cheesed-off Italians swap bank bonds for Parmesan (richcabot)

The bonds will pay a fixed yield of five percent until they mature in January 2022. The money raised in the bond issue will help the company improve its facilities and promote the thick-rind cheese it makes, said the cooperative’s chairman.

Freak Storms and Butterfly Die-Offs: This Is Your Climate on Fossil Fuels (richcabot)

December brought wild weather events in other places too, as the UK saw its single wettest month ever recorded, with nearly double the average rainfall. That month in the UK also shattered temperature records, with an average temperature that was 4.1 degrees Celsius higher than the long-term average.

Canada's Cauliflower Price Crisis Is Ending. Did Public Pressure Make A Difference? (PBD)

A head was going for $1.99 a head at a number of supermarkets in Toronto this week, and CBC reports similar prices are now being advertised in Vancouver. A spokesperson for Metro Foods confirmed prices have come down in recent weeks at the chain.

Go All the Way

I would like to respectfully ask everyone to dive all the way into the 9/11 Truth debate.  Many have looked at the subject enough to become "uneasy" or "disturbed by numerous inconsistencies."  Please go all in and become certain.

This takes time.  There are several hundred data points that need to be reviewed, weighed and re-organized.  Lots of the data points require judgment calls, information is incomplete, information is contested.

(For me, assessing the integrity and motivation of the speaker is the most important starting point.  This is probably the main reason that I trust Chris and CHS's writing so highly.)

David Ray Griffin is of great intellect and integrity.  A retired theology professor, minister and prolific author, His writing on 9/11 has spanned a decade.  My assessment is that he comes from the very highest moral and motivational levels.  I trust him.  He never overstates his case.  He documents every statement.

The New Pearl Harbor

The 9/11 Commissions Incredible Tales

Daniele Ganser, a Swiss historian specializing in security studies. lecturer at the University of Basel, gives a high quality introduction to the controversy.

And just in case someone tries to give you the "no one of intelligence and academic standing would ever believe 9/11 was an inside job" line, peruse the 400+ professors who question 9/11 list.

Please go all the way.  Become certain.

The Purpose of Accurately Knowing

As a general rule, the most successful man in life is the one with the best information.

-Benjamin Disraeli

Good question, John G.

This event was a window into a layer of deep forces and deep organization.  Without knowing how things actually work we have no ability to respond creatively.

Who writes these great myths of our age?  The global war on terror.  The clash of civilizations.

Chris has remarked in the past about how the meme of "energy independence" for America seemed to spontaneously appear in multiple publications at about the same time.  How does this work?

Who is able to blow up large buildings in NYC, killing thousands, AND KEEP IT OUT OF THE NEWSPAPERS?  Who is this group and how are they organized?  What else are they doing?

If a person is not yet certain that the buildings were blown up, this question doesn't arise.  However, after becoming certain, it won't go away.

9/11

My link icon isn't working.

I'd like to refer everybody to a YouTube video

Historian Webster Tarpley Analyses Bush's Behavior on 9/11

Tarpley believes that 9/11 was a military coup. He believes that VP Dick Cheney was in on the conspiracy but George W. Bush wasn't - which explains why he had to sit in that 2nd grade classroom listening to kids reading My Pet Goat. Tarpley claims there had been an assassination attempt at Bush earlier that day in Florida.

They made 9/11 into an excuse to go into IRAQ, Cheney and others wanted that because they knew the importance of oil to Business As Usual.

It only matters

If you value truth, knowledge and freedom.

The unpleasant truths that undergird 911 are an integral part of our collective predicament.

I believe it matters in the same way as making your neighbors and communities aware of the limits to growth and the impending changes coming our way.  The more prepared our communities are for those unpleasant realities the better off we all are.     I use my knowledge and awareness of those things to help educate my friends and family. and spread the message. Isn't that what PP is all about?

The neo con's still hold sway in our public policy.  They are driving us to ruin in our foreign policy. They are pushing us into a new cold war and back into brinksmanship with nuclear power Russia.

The continuing assault on our freedoms: the Patriot act, the NDDA etc.The airport scanners and TSA,  thank a Neocon..

They've still shape the public perception on a host of issues that affect us.they have 'their' presidential candidates. They didn't go away. They are in the system.

Given  a broad enough awareness of the unpleasant truths behind 911 could help re frame and potentially rollback some of those things. At a minimum having a better understanding of how things work can help one position themselves better in the face of developments.

I won't be sending any of my children to fight the 'war on terror'

May I be excused?

With respect, I and may others have been pushing this boulder up hill for years with little to show for it.  For my part I feel that the time is getting nearer that there will be more pressing things at hand.  In a few years trying to survive in a lifeboat will be far more important then trying to convince anyone that bad people wrecked the ship.  I would rather spend the time and energy making sure the lifeboat is well found and well stocked.

I respect the quest for truth and knowledge.  I too would dearly like to know who the Deep State actors might be and what they are capable of.  I am concerned that we may be quickly approaching a time when the quest for truth and knowledge may be superseded by issues of life and death.

Knowledge isn't the problem

sand_puppy,

For me, it's a foregone conclusion that the official 9/11 story is a fairy tale and that elements of the US government and their accomplices were complicit.  I cut my eye teeth on the JFK assassination, where the official story was, if possible, even more ludicrous.

The question is, what does one do with that knowledge.  On a personal level, it has created skepticism of government and mistrust of the motives of government officials and their cronies.  It has also prompted me to focus my efforts locally on things I can influence, such as the well-being of those around me and the people I care about.

On a larger scale, the noise is just too deafening.  Those behind such events have the resources to drown out the truth, not to mention the willingness and ability to eliminate anyone who comes too close to it.  I have no doubt that anyone who attains a position that could see justice done and comes too close to the truth of such matters will find himself in the same position as JFK and the people on the upper floors of the WTC -- dead.  These agents have demonstrated numerous times that there is no limit to either the number or the position of people they will kill if it suits their agenda.

These events are just milestones on the road to oblivion of the current empire.  At this point I don't think there's really much to be done other than living with integrity and trying to avoid getting buried in the rubble.  There has been evil in the world for as long as humans have had ascendency, and for all I know, there always will be.  But that doesn't mean that we can't live decent, happy, and productive lives.  And that should be our focus.

Well, lets take an example ...

... of why knowing about 9/11 and the network that executed and continues to maintain the deception is important.  The deceptions are still in active use.

Just posted on ZH a moment ago:

Sweden: Death By Immigration

This piece explains how the society of sweden is being so upset and undermined by immigrants who have "invaded" sweden.  Rapes and murders are cited.  Flames are fanned.  "The mood is revolutionary."

Its author is listed as: Ingrid Carlqvist of the Gatestone Institute.

Well famous Neocon, John Bolton, is the chairman of the Gatestone Institute.  Review the board of directors and you find a Zionist / Neocon assembly.  What are they up to?

This group has been nurturing the myth of "The Clash of Civilizations" for about 2 decades.  The group sees benefit in increasing the intensity of conflict between the Muslim world and the west.

I don't have time to document more at this moment, but If you don't like world war then you will want to understand these guys!

It is like having a pet rattlesnake in your house.  You have to watch it constantly.

A Woman's Work

Controlling naughty boys is women's work SP.

Karen Hudes has got them boxed up in a corner.  She could do with a little help if you want to do something about it.

And a big ha ha to New Zealand for signing the TPP. Just as international trade falls off a cliff. Immaculate timing.
So yesterday, Kiwis. But you knew that, didn't you?

Thanks for keeping this discussion going. This video fills in several blanks for me and I agree with Mememonkey that our collective reaction to this event really is pivotal in determining our future .

No Freedom Without Truth PCR
Quote:

Dear Western Peoples, if you wish to be able to walk down the streets of your cities without being accosted by police, demanded to present identity papers, searched, detained indefinitely or assassinated without due process of law, if you wish to be able to express your opinion about “your” government and its use of your tax payments, if you wish to be able to discuss current affairs or your personal affairs without being recorded by the NSA or the equivalent in your own country or by both, if you wish to be able to act on your moral conscience and to protest the violence the West applies to Muslims and others unfavored by powerful Western interests, such as Palestinians, if you wish to live in the freedom that was achieved in the West after centuries of struggle, wake up, find time from less meaningful pursuits to become aware of what is being stolen from you. It is late in the game. If you do not stand up for truth, you will have no freedom as there is no freedom without truth.

Most people if they are familiar with Paul Craig Roberts know where he stands on these issues, as he is prolific on the topic,

Tim Ladsen brought my attention to his most recent article entitled  "There is no freedom without truth" and I have to say it is one of his best essays  I've encountered.   It also speaks directly to the importance of understanding these issues and why they matter which is relevant to this discussion.

It is definitely worth a read.

http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2016/02/02/there-is-no-freedom-without-t...

I would also add, for those weary of the struggle and perhaps to cynical or discouraged to care, that as things fall apart, the dissolution of empire as it were, will be both an opportunity to potentially fix some things and simultaneously a  dangerous juncture where things can get much worse than they need to

In my opinion the closer our collective narrative is to the truth in these matters the better our chances are.

Pentagon Plane

I would like to take Broadspectrum up on the offer to provide data about what happened at the Pentagon. There are very many facets to what happened on that fateful day.  My suspicions began over the cell phone call that lasted such a long time.  In 2001 I couldn't drive across town without my calls dropping multiple times, and this was a big metropolis with "good" coverage. So, the more angles we can inspect, the more comprehensive our picture will be.
