The Real Dispute Driving the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (hail)

Abbas’s “Zion denial” explains much about why the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians remains so intractable. If Israel is merely a colonialist project, rather than the fulfillment of an exiled people’s longing to return home, then it is illegitimate. You don’t make peace with colonialism—you destroy it. Seventy years after the founding of the Jewish state and the beginning of the Palestinian tragedy, peace remains as elusive as ever—in large part because of the pervasive denial, both within Palestinian society and throughout the Middle East, of Israel’s legitimacy, and the hardline response that denial evokes among Israelis.

EMP Commission Warns Blackout Of Electricity, Food, Water To Last Year Or Longer With Huge Death Toll (Thomas R.)

“In the 1800s, the U.S. population was less than 60 million, and those people had many skills and assets necessary for survival without today’s infrastructure. An extended blackout today could result in the death of a large fraction of the American people through the effects of societal collapse, disease, and starvation. While national planning and preparation for such events could help mitigate the damage, few such actions are currently underway or even being contemplated,” added the executive summary.

Three Chicago Fed Say Economists Say They Knows How To Tax Illinoisans Fleeing Pension Liabilities – Wirepoints Original (Alex M.)

Don’t they understand that people won’t build on or improve property when property taxes are that high? When taxes are 3 percent to 6 percent, any value you add to your home is going to be taxed at that high rate forever. Have they never been to our communities with countless disrepaired, abandoned homes and commercial properties, which are the result?

Can A Lien Be Placed On My Property Without Notice? (From 2014, Thomas R.)

The creditor can use a judgment lien on your property to ensure they receive the money they won in a suit against you. After a creditor wins a lawsuit against a debtor, the court can grant it a certificate of judgment that can be given to a land records office in the county where the property is located. While no formal notice may be given to you, you should always consider it a possible outcome following a court case with a creditor.

The Silver Coil Is Tightening (Diane C.)

Is silver going to be making a big move sometime soon? The evidence is building that the answer to that question might be yes. Join Mike Maloney for this latest update on the silver market.

Are U.S. Savings Bonds a Good Investment? (Thomas R.)

Another reason that people choose savings bonus is to protect the money they give to their grandchildren from the parents who may spend any money they can on other things. The law allows the guardian to cash out the savings bonds for a minor, and you may be better off opening a 529 account with you as the trustee on the account for a grandchild, if you are planning on helping to contribute to money for a child’s education.

Cellphones may be to blame for surge in deadly brain tumors (Thomas R.)

“Interestingly, we found the highest rise in incidence in frontal and temporal regions of the brain. This raises the suspicion that mobile and cordless phone use may be promoting gliomas.”

Professor Denis Henshaw said: “Our findings illustrate the need to look more carefully at the mechanisms behind these cancer trends instead of focusing only on cures.”

Kansas Police No Longer Allowed To Have Sex With People They Pull Over (Thomas R.)

Kansas police are going to have to stop having sex with people they pull over for traffic violations, after Governor Jeff Colyer (R) signed a new bill into law on Thursday outlawing sexual relations "during the course of a traffic stop, a custodial interrogation, an interview in connection with an investigation, or while the law enforcement officer has such person detained," according to the Kansas City Star.

Are Apple, Amazon and Facebook the future of banking? (Sparky1)

At the same time, delving into finance can give tech firms valuable insight into what Americans are spending money on. That information can then be used to shape future business strategies and defend against threats.

Backpacking First-Aid Kit (Thomas R.)

Hikers are often surprised at the amount of redundant items they are carrying out of habit rather than necessity. And finally, remember that when it comes to backcountry first-aid, prevention is better than cure. Making objective decisions based on common sense and research (see Education below), should always be considered your first line of defence when heading out into the wilderness.

OPEC: The Oil Glut Is Gone (Michael S.)

Moreover, OPEC noted that heady projections about U.S. shale growth are not without downside risk. U.S. shale could fail to deliver on aggressive growth figures for several reasons. "The continued strong development of the world economy could lead to rising inflation, and, along with potential trade restrictions, would impact oil production costs," OPEC said. "In addition, fast-growing US tight oil production is increasingly faced with costly logistical constraints in terms of outtake capacity from land-locked production sites."

Swaths of native forest near Great Barrier Reef set to be bulldozed (ezlxq1949)

Kingvale Station owner Scott Harris wants to clear the land – mostly eucalypt forest and melaleuca swamplands – to make way for cropping and other activities.

The former Queensland Newman government approved the work in April 2014. However the federal government determined that the clearing must also be assessed under Commonwealth laws.

CSIRO planning US military funded genetic extinction experiments in Western Australia (ezlxq1949)

In the GBIrd coalition CSIRO has the highly conflicted responsibility of both promoting gene drives and assessing their risks. According to the FOI documents, the CSIRO is planning community engagement “as part of a wider effort to gain social license for environmental applications of synthetic biology (1) technologies". CSIRO has allocated $3.5M for community/stakeholder research related to synthetic biology and is attempting to secure more money from DARPA specifically for this work on the GBIRd project.

Returning "Home"--Question this Myth

The above posted Atlantic article is read with interest.  The author chastises Israel but affirms the underlying myths.

When a basic underlying story is accepted as true, then certain actions naturally follow.

“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”  --Voltaire

It is very important to question the factual underpinnings of our stories.

Shlomo Sand, in his book, The Invention of the Jewish People, summarizes the genetic information that says that the Ashkenazi lineages are descendent of Eastern Europeans who converted to Judaism between 700 AD and 1200 AD.  The Ashkenazi Jewish people are NOT biologically descendants of the ancient Israelites.  In fact, Sand asserts, the current day Palestinians are much more likely to be the biological descendants of the ancient Israelites than the Ashkenazi who are killing them.

Such is the power of a story believed:.

Sacred Myths are stories that tells us who we are and what we must do.

Benjamin Netanyahu [in] May 24, 2011 receiving 29 standing ovation by the American Congress, including at each of those sentences: “in Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers” ; “No distortion of history could deny the 4,000-year-old bond between the Jewish people and the Jewish land

Rather than being colonizers invading and exterminating the indigenous peoples, these sacred stories re-frame their role as god's beloved, who are returning to their home, as god commands them.  The genocide and expulsion of the indigenous peoples of Israel are commanded by "god" who has "given" Israel to them.  The murder is sacred.  The snipers are "doing god's work."

"Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys." -- a direct instruction from 'god' to the Israelites.  From 1 Samuel 15:3

Israeli snipers fire on Palestinian protesters below.  These soldiers are serving a RED / BLUE Meme conception of 'god' from millennia past.
