Deaths from Alzheimer’s disease in the US have risen by 55%, says CDC (jdargis)

Between 1999 and 2014, the death rate of people with Alzheimer’s disease rose from 16.5 deaths per 100,000 people to 25.4 deaths per 100,000, according to the data published in the CDC’s weekly morbidity and mortality report.

The counties with the highest rates were in the Southeast, the Midwest and the West Coast.

The Beleaguered Tenants of ‘Kushnerville’ (jdargis)

So Warren was startled in January 2013, three years later, when she received a summons from a private process server informing her that she was being sued for $3,014.08 by the owner of Cove Village. The lawsuit, filed in Maryland District Court, was doubly bewildering. It claimed she owed the money for having left in advance of her lease’s expiration, though she had received written permission to leave. And the company suing her was not Sawyer, but one whose name she didn’t recognize: JK2 Westminster LLC.

Selected Articles: A Corrupted View of Reality in the Western Media (yogmonster)

“The mainstream U.S. media is congratulating itself on its courageous defiance of President Trump and its hard-hitting condemnations of Russia, but the press seems to have forgotten that its proper role within the U.S. democratic structure is not to slant stories one way or another but to provide objective information for the American people.”

How a remote California tribe set out to save its river and stop a suicide epidemic (fff)

It would be a vastly complex task to slow the spiral of joblessness, broken families and addiction, intertwined as it was with the long demise of the river that once sustained everyone here.

But first they needed to break an ancient taboo: They needed to talk openly about how their loved ones died.

The Messy Relationship Between Food Stamps and Health (fff)

To name just one researcher who has uncovered this trend, Cindy Leung, a nutrition researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, found teen and adult food-stamp recipients had larger waists and higher levels of obesity than people who aren’t in the program, even when controlling for income. More than a quarter of children live in households that currently receive SNAP benefits, according to Leung’s work, and while she found that kids in the program are not more likely to be obese, she did find that children in the program consumed more sugar-sweetened drinks, processed meat, and high-fat dairy than kids who didn’t live in SNAP households.

Mile Markers on the Road to Ruin (GE Christenson)

Use gold and silver bullion (not the paper stuff) as financial insurance to protect the buying power of some or most of our net worth. Based on a century of experience, we can depend upon central banks and global governments to devalue currencies, create more debt, and propel gold and silver prices far higher.

Farming the World: China’s Epic Race to Avoid a Food Crisis (fff)

The change started four decades ago when the country began to recast its systems of production and private enterprise. Those reforms precipitated an economic boom, driven by factories, investment and exports, but the changes down on the farm were just as dramatic.

Land reforms lifted production of grains like rice and wheat, and millions joined a newly wealthy middle class that ate more vegetables and pork and wanted rare luxuries like beef and milk.

Trump Delays Decision on Paris Climate Accords (jdargis)

The reaction was swift and critical. Alden Meyer, the director of strategy and policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, said: “President Trump’s continued waffling on whether to stay in or withdraw from the Paris Agreement made it impossible to reach consensus at the Taormina summit on the need for ambitious climate action. But he stands in stark isolation.”

50th anniversary of Israeli attack on USS Liberty is approaching

Would our "ally" Israel ever betray us?  Would they ever attack us and try to make it look like an attack from an Arab country?  Yes and Yes.

Would our military and politicians (including POTUS) engage with Israel in covering up such an attack?  Yes, they did.

Watch this documentary, or one of the many others that have been made.
