Employment: Pick a Number, Any Number (richcabot)

If you lose your job you count as unemployed only if you keep looking for a new one; otherwise, you never get counted again. That is why when trying to get closer to the “real” unemployment rate you must look at the labor force participation rate, which has recently been in decline. In early 2007, the U.S. labor force participation rate for people 16 years and over was 66.4 percent; by the end of 2008, a few months into the world’s largest economic downturn since World War II, it was still at 65.8 percent. Its subsequent slide bottomed out in September 2015 at 62.4 percent, and by early 2017 the rate was marginally higher, at 62.9 percent. Nearly 95 million U.S. citizens above the age of 16 were not part of the labor force—a historic record.

It's Official: The Trump Administration Won't Break Up Big Banks (Adam)

Mnuchin's statement put those questions to bed — and drew the ire of Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, who argued that anything called "Glass-Steagall" needed to include separating risky trading activities from old-fashioned banking.

Mnuchin said he had not reversed himself or the administration's position, instead saying that a "21st Century Glass-Steagall" was always going to be different from the original rules, introduced in the wake of the Great Depression.

Betsy DeVos hits hard reset on student loan servicing contracts (jdargis)

Education officials are in the middle of issuing new contracts to student loan servicing companies responsible for placing borrowers in affordable repayment plans and keeping them from defaulting on their loans. The previous administration included contract requirements to shore up the quality of servicing in response to consumer complaints over poor communication, mismanaged paperwork and delays in processing payments. But servicing companies said the demands would be unnecessarily time-consuming, not to mention expensive.

Who’s Hiring? (Software Companies) Who’s Firing? (Hardware) (richcabot)

Ford picked up 400 engineers—300 in Canada and 100 in the United States—to work on connected and autonomous cars. It doesn’t need to find these engineers in the wild, however, its picking them up from Blackberry.

Brain Region Found to be Associated With Fear of Uncertain Future (Suzie G.)

In the study, 61 students had MRI scans taken of their brains after filling out a survey designed to measure their ability to tolerate the uncertainty of future negative events. Kim and his colleagues analyzed the MRIs and compared them with the intolerance of uncertainty scores. They found the volume of the striatum was significantly associated with intolerance of uncertainty.

Silver: Train Leaving Station Soon! (GE Christenson)

Silver prices for the next decade are dependent upon many unknowns. However, a conservative chart interpretation is shown below.

New French Science Minister Appointed (Cornelius999)

Many French researchers had come to view the outgoing conservative government as hostile to basic science. During the tenure of the outgoing science minister, François d'Aubert, research was demoted to a subministry, for example. Researchers hope that Allegre will restore it to full ministerial status and shore up France's flagging research effort--especially by stepping up recruitment of young researchers to replace senior scientists facing retirement. "This is a real crisis," said one leading French scientist who asked not to be identified. "We are in danger of losing a whole generation of researchers." Allegre, a scientist at the Institute of the Physics of the Globe in Paris, himself has also recently stressed the importance of beefing up research at universities.

The Painful Truth About Teeth (jdargis)

As the distance between rich and poor grows in the United States, few consequences are so overlooked as the humiliating divide in dental care. High-end cosmetic dentistry is soaring, and better-off Americans spend well over $1 billion each year just to make their teeth a few shades whiter.

Millions of others rely on charity clinics and hospital emergency rooms to treat painful and neglected teeth. Unable to afford expensive root canals and crowns, many simply have them pulled. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans older than 65 do not have a single real tooth left.

America's Largest Pension Fund Has Dumped a Fortune Into Monsanto Stock (edelinski)

Due to the spraying of this herbicide on crops as a drying agent and on GMO crops for weed control, glyphosate is now found in the majority of our food, streams, rain, tapwater and even our urine. It's also been detected in breast milk, vaccines and pregnant mothers.

The Secret Life Of Urban Crows (jdargis)

“When I came to Seattle, it was pretty obvious that the corvid of the day here was the crow,” John Marzluff, the Avian Conservation Lab head, told me recently. He was hired away from Boise State by the University of Washington in 1997 to teach and to study corvids, the family to which crows belong. (Jays, ravens, and magpies are also corvids.) Marzluff narrowed his focus once he observed just how many American crows lived and thrived in the city. Seattle’s rapid growth and unique geography, essentially a forest squeezed between two bodies of water, are key to that large crow population. Forests aren’t ideal for crow life, but over the past century we’ve carved and opened up these areas for our suburbs and provided a constant food source—namely, abundant edible trash. We’ve created what Marzluff calls “a mecca for crows.”

Seth Rich Murder #6

One thinker points out that an essential element of government initiated crime is the sequestration of evidence.  Often this is done under the guise of "doing an investigation" and for "national security."  Think of the black boxes from Flights 93 in Shanksville and Flight MH 17 over the Ukraine.

If Seth Rich's murder was truly a botched robbery, a local street crime, it would be purely under the jurisdiction of the DC police.  The FBI would not be involved.

His laptop would not be a player in the story of a botched street robbery.

But somehow the FBI became involved and took his laptop and now seems to have "lost" it.  However, were this a killing done in retribution for leaking the DNC emails, then it would indeed be a national issue and the laptop might be the key.  So which is it?

---------------

I am sorry to say that I do not believe that we will have justice from the FBI, DOJ or the Washington DC police.  They all appear to be owned by invisible forces.

As DaveF mentioned this morning, when we come to understand that someone is lying to us we no longer believe them and we no longer believe that the institutions they represent are just.  Confidence is destroyed.  Such deep betrayal of the ideals of fairness and justice are irrevocable.

Catherine Austin Fitts recommends that we learn what happened and convict those who financed killing in the court of public opinion.  (Yes there are problems with seeking truth in this venue.)  But it is the only venue still open when criminals own the justice system.

Picked up on ZH:  DNC Affiliates Increase Involvement in Seth Rich Case after Wheeler Claims.

1.  Public spokespersons "for the family of Seth Rich" are actually DNC PR crisis fixers.

2.  DC police body cam footage from the scene has been "lost."

3.  A law firm associated with the Whitewater case from HRC and Vince Foster's past sent Wheeler a cease and desist notice.

4.  Kim Dotcom says that he will go public with evidence that Seth was the DNC email leaker.

5.  The DC police chief suddenly resigned 1 month after Seth's murder.  Reminds me of Commisioner Helric Fredou in Paris who abruptly "became depressed" while sitting in his office at midnight writing his report on the Charlie Hebdo shooting and "committed suicide" by shooting himself in the head.

Tired of being blamed for the criminality of the western deep state actors, the Russian Embassy gets into the fray:

If anyone has not had a chance to peruse the Clinton Body Count compilation, I would recommend that now.  If even 10% of these coincidental deaths are not-coincidental, the implications are staggering.   I would recommend downloading the pdf file in case sometime in the very near future this information is no longer available on the internet.

Quote:

The family of slain Democratic staffer Seth Rich is threatening legal action against a private investigator after his "outrageous behavior" has given fuel to right-wing conspiracy theories about the unsolved murder of their son.

An attorney representing the family of Rich, who was 27 when he was killed last July, sent a cease and desist letter Friday to Rod Wheeler, a Fox News contributor and former Washington, D.C., homicide detective who was employed by the family and earlier this week told a Fox affiliate that he believed police were covering up details about the crime.

Image: Seth Rich

Seth Rich, the DNC Staffer who was murdered in July of 2016. Metropolitan Police Department

"Your statements and actions have caused, and continue to cause, the Family severe mental anguish and emotional distress. Your behavior appears to have been deliberate, intentional, outrageous, and in patent disregard of the Agreement and the obvious damage and suffering it would cause the Family," wrote Joseph Ingrisano of the law firm Katuk Rock, according to a copy of the letter shared exclusively with NBC News.

"Your improper and unauthorized statements, many of which are false and have no basis in fact, have also injured the memory and reputation of Seth Rich and have defamed and injured the reputation and standing of the members of the Family," Ingrisano continued.

The letter demands Wheeler "immediately and permanently" cease and desist from making any comments about Seth Rich or his death and suggests he could face further legal action either way.

Wheeler could not be reached Friday since the voicemail was full on both his cell phone and office line.

Wheeler's contract with the Rich family prohibited him from speaking to the press without prior approval from the family, a clause he apparently violated when he spoke to Fox 5 D.C. Monday for a story that quickly went viral on the right.

Rich's family also has demanded a retraction and apology from Fox 5 D.C. for the story, but has so far not received one.

Wheeler has since completely recanted his story, both in the press and in a private message to Rich's family.

The private investigator told other outlets the Fox reporter essentially put words in his mouth by giving him information that he then repeated in an on-camera interview. "That story on Fox 5 last night was inaccurate," he told BuzzFeed.

Rich, who was a data analyst at the DNC, was killed while walking home early one Sunday morning last summer in what police suspect was a robbery gone wrong.

However, some have speculated — without any evidence — that Rich was the source of internal DNC emails published by Wikileaks and murdered for the act. The DNC, the FBI, every U.S. intelligence agency, and the cyber security firm hired by the DNC to investigate the breach say those emails were stolen by Russian hackers. But Rich's death has become a useful red herring for those interesting in undercutting the Russian hacking narrative.

That includes allies of President Donald Trump and the Russian government. On Friday, the official account of the Russian Embassy in London tweeted: "#WikiLeaks informer Seth Rich murdered in US but MSM was so busy accusing Russian hackers to take notice."

Wheeler has since admitted he had no first-hand evidence linking Rich to Wikileaks, and subsequent reporting by NBC News and other outlets confirmed Rich was not communicating with the group.

"It never contained any e-mails related to WikiLeaks," a former law enforcement official with first-hand knowledge of Rich's laptop told NBC News.

Rich's family only hired Wheeler on the urging of a conservative Dallas financial adviser and Fox News regular named Ed Butowsky, who offered to cover Wheeler's fees, as NBC News first reported.

Well I for one think the Seth Rich murder is awfully suspicious.  Too many things align in time.

NSA watches literally everything that goes on, everywhere.  They have the records on what sorts of communications Seth did, and with whom.  Even if they can't figure out what he said, just using certain applications (TOR, for instance) is suggestive of him communicating with wikileaks.

[I have no evidence he was using this app, or any other encrypted communications apps, but if he was sending data, he definitely should have been using something like this.]

Perhaps that's what got him killed.  If you use TOR, and you have a sensitive job - maybe its as dangerous as flying in one of those light planes, or weightlifting all by yourself.  They start noticing you, break into your machine, figure out what you are doing, and that's it.

I could certainly see the need for Seth's machine to go away.  It might have all sorts of interesting forensic evidence on it; NSA malware, for instance, in addition to the emails.

And if you wonder why we engage in these sorts of conspiracy discussions, consider:

  • Project MKUltra
  • Operation Mockingbird
  • Operation Northwoods
  • COINTELPRO
  • Dark Alliance (CIA running drugs to Central LA)
  • Operation Gladio
  • Nayirah Testimony (Kuwaiti Babies in Incubators)
  • Operation Paperclip
  • Tonkin Gulf
  • WMD in Iraq

And these are just the ones that I am 100% certain have occurred.

We are at war - perpetual, endless war.  As as we know from Winston Churchill: "In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies."

The confidence I have in my government to tell me the truth on any important matter has dropped to zero.  That comes from a reading of history.  When they want to do something, they do it, and then lie about it.  You must always suspect a conspiracy of some sort when the chips are down.  If you don't, you have learned nothing from history.

Breaking News!! It Was Russian Agents That Killed Seth Rich.

You can just feel the contempt the spin-masters feel for the stupidity of the public as they suggest:

According to Burkman, his team is currently looking into the theory that Russian agents may have been behind Rich's death.

This may have been the same Russian sleeper cell in Washington DC through which Putin controls Trump.

In include this article only to ridicule the very conspicuous propaganda served by the Daily Mail.

latest retractions by FOX and Hannity

C'mon folks, isn't it time to cut the crap?  You have no credible evidence and now FOX news and Hannity have retracted their stories.  Only the lunatic fringe of the alt-right cling to this nonsense.  Do some reading of credible sources.  At least read what his parents have to say.  Show a little decency.

We’re Seth Rich’s parents. Stop politicizing our son’s murder.

Seth Rich came to D.C. to pursue a career in politics and last worked at the Democratic National Committee. Rich was shot dead on July 10, 2016. Here is what's known about the murder. (Claritza Jimenez/The Washington Post)
 May 23 at 6:04 PM

The writers are the parents of Seth Rich, who was killed in the District in 2016.

Imagine living in a nightmare that you can never wake up from. Imagine having to face every single day knowing that your son was murdered. Imagine you have no answers — that no one has been brought to justice and there are few clues leading to the killer or killers. Imagine that every single day, with every phone call you hope that it’s the police, calling to tell you that there has been a break in the case.

Imagine that instead, every call that comes in is a reporter asking what you think of a series of lies or conspiracies about the death. That nightmare is what our family goes through every day.

Our beloved son Seth Rich was gunned down in the early hours of July 10, 2016, in his Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Bloomingdale. On the day he was murdered, Seth was excited about a new job he had been offered on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

The story must be told.

Seth had dedicated his life to public service, and he told us that he wanted to work on the campaign’s effort to expand voter participation because he loved our country dearly and believed deeply in the promise of democratic engagement. Seth had been walking around, calling friends, family and his girlfriend, pondering the broader picture of what the job change would mean. He wondered how he would pick up and move to New York City for four months, the strain that might put on his relationships, and how it would all affect the life he had built for himself in Washington.

The circumstances of what happened next are still unclear. We know that Seth was abruptly confronted on the street, that he had been on the phone and quickly ended the call. We also know that there were signs of a struggle, including a watchband torn when the assailants attempted to rip it off his wrist. Law-enforcement officials told us that Seth’s murder looked like a botched robbery attempt in which the assailants — after shooting our son — panicked, immediately ran and abandoned Seth’s personal belongings. We have seen no evidence, by any person at any time, that Seth’s murder had any connection to his job at the Democratic National Committee or his life in politics. Anyone who claims to have such evidence is either concealing it from us or lying.

Still, conservative news outlets and commentators continue, day after painful day, to peddle discredited conspiracy theories that Seth was killed after having provided WikiLeaks with emails from the DNC. Those theories, which some reporters have since retracted, are baseless, and they are unspeakably cruel.

We know that Seth’s personal email and his personal computer were both inspected by detectives early in the investigation and that the inspection revealed no evidence of any communications with anyone at WikiLeaks or anyone associated with WikiLeaks. Nor did that inspection reveal any evidence that Seth had leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks or to anyone else. Indeed, those who have suggested that Seth’s role as a data analyst at the DNC gave him access to a wide trove of emails are simply incorrect — Seth’s job was to develop analytical models to encourage voters to turn out to vote. He didn’t have access to DNC emails, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee emails, John Podesta’s emails or Hillary Clinton’s emails. That simply wasn’t his job.

Despite these facts, our family’s nightmare persists. Seth’s death has been turned into a political football. Every day we wake up to new headlines, new lies, new factual errors, new people approaching us to take advantage of us and Seth’s legacy. It just won’t stop. The amount of pain and anguish this has caused us is unbearable. With every conspiratorial flare-up, we are forced to relive Seth’s murder and a small piece of us dies as more of Seth’s memory is torn away from us.

To those who sincerely want to get to the bottom of Seth’s murder, we don’t hold this against you. We don’t think you are monsters, and we don’t think you are terrible people. We know that so many people out there really do care, don’t know what to think and are angry at the lack of answers.

We also know that many people are angry at our government and want to see justice done in some way, somehow. We are asking you to please consider our feelings and words. There are people who are using our beloved Seth’s memory and legacy for their own political goals, and they are using your outrage to perpetuate our nightmare. We ask those purveying falsehoods to give us peace, and to give law enforcement the time and space to do the investigation they need to solve our son’s murder.

I don't understand. If they wanted law enforcement to handle the case why did they hire a private investigator?

It is not the crime, but the cover-up

Social mores can be invoked to silence discussion.  For example, discussing Israel's systematic expulsion of Palestinians is not permitted as it is anti-Semitic and I heard a discussion of water rights battle between a group of Mormon farmers and the State of Utah declared improper due to religious tolerance.

The social more of "patriotism" and "respecting the troops" is used to silence opposition to a war.

Here we have the more of "respect for the dead" and "decency" being used to quell discussion of a murder.  Voltaire shuts this line of reasoning down:

"To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth."

--Voltaire

Emerging to view is a network of activists working to shut down discussion of the possibility that Seth Rich's murder was retribution for leaking the DNC emails.

These emails showed the world the HRC pay-for-play systematic bribery system, the collusion of the DNC to ensure Sander did not win the democratic nomination, and threw in an abundance of code words used in Podesta's emails by pedophile discussion groups raising this concern to high levels of discussion.  You can see why the DNC is not happy to have this out in public.

Look at this post on the group trying to silence this discussion:

Pastorum Group Spokesperson In Seth Rich Case Tied To Democrat Propaganda Chief

David Brock's name has become well known to be as a neocon political activist.  He is linked to many social engineering projects including George Soros Open Society (working for unlimited immigration) and the Gatestone Institute (working to inflame social tensions between native populations and the immigrants).  I regard Brock as one of the big names in the effort to cauldronize Europe--to introduce the chaos that will require a police state to "restore order."

In my opinion, David Brock is a well established bad actor.  Trick include threatening advertisers at Fox News, using a DNC crisis fixer to "represent the family."

Lunatic fringe?  Why is it Doug that you can't help  parroting your propaganda sources themes when trying to discredit alternative voices to the mainstream narratives you've been happily consuming.   It's not like SP  refers to you as a sheep.

While I feel for the parents of murder victim in this circus.   There is nothing in their letter that disproves that Seth is or was capable of being the leaker to Wikileaks.  They are clearly trusting and at the mercy of  authorities who are potentially involved and or compromised by the pervasive political intrigues of the corrupt and venal political cesspool that is DC.  Everything in DC is intertwined with political influence.

The reaction of the mainstream media and the DNC operatives/ David Brock et al to the emergence of the Seth Rich story is  is very telling.  To have them shrieking at top volume about the crass politicization of this murdered kid is height of hypocrisy.  I think they doth protest too much as the Seth Rich Story has the potential to unravel their obviously fake Russian Boogyman Narrative. They are fully engaged in the politicization of this tragic crime for their agenda.

I discounted the report of the Private Detective interviewed by FOX   when I analyzed his statement and saw that his only offer of proof was an unnamed federal investigator.  Just I discount everything that your 'Credible'  cough cough sources  the Washington Post, New York Times and the CIA ( I know, redundant) ascribe to unnameable but really really 'credible' well placed, in a position  to know etc  and yet invariably anonymous  sources for their stories

I would be the first to state that there is no visible proof, yet. and bs on both sides of this debate.    What I can't discount is the implication by Julianne Assange, and the Wiki leaks reward for the murderers of Rich which speak loudly.  I haven't noticed Wikileaks putting up a reward for any other random botched robbery victims. Assange's statement in response to the pending 'revelations' of Kim Dot Com is also telling:

May 21  "WikiLeaks has never disclosed a source. Sources sometimes talk to other parties but identities never emerge from WikiLeaks".

I have seen no proof as of yet, but there is a lot of smoke and I suspect that it is from a fire. A fire that  hopefully the WA PO, Media Matters, CNN and other deepstate mouthpieces won't be able to put out with their usual propaganda barrage, appeals to censorship and their army of useful idiots that mindlessly consume and propagate their agenda.

Sean Hannity Takes Vacation -- Seth Rich Murder Fallout

Sean Hannity Takes "Abrupt Vacation" Amid

Advertiser Boycott

According to Philly.com, Hannity is taking "a couple days off amid a growing advertiser boycott" over Hannity's pursuit of the Seth Rich story --- ... seven advertisers are said to have pulled out ...

In any case, as noted above, so far the timeline of events surrounding Hannity is strikingly similar to how events unfolded for former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who following a New York Times report that revealed O’Reilly paid five former Fox News personalities $13 million to settle claims of sexual and verbal harassment, took an abrupt vacation amid a growing exodus of advertisers from his show. Despite assurances from the network that the vacation was pre planed, Fox News fired O’Reilly eight days later.

In interviews with Philly.com, Fox News contributor Julie Roginsky slammed the network, calling it “really egregious” to allow Hannity, Gingrich and others to discuss the death of Seth Rich.  “We know the facts. Wikileaks was in collaboration with the Russians,” Roginsky said.“How do we know this? Because the entire intelligence community said that the Russians were the ones who hacked into these emails. This is not in dispute.”

Well, actually it is because 5 months later the so called entire intelligence community hasn't presented one shred of evidence yet as Ron Paul has repeatedly, patiently, and vocally pointed out.

-------------------------

No mention is made of David Brock's network of neocon activists who have been pressuring these advertisers.

This form of censorship needs a name.  Lets call it "neo-liberal censorship."  "Neoliberalism" is the position that an unrestrained marketplace forces are the best decision making process.  The wealthiest will dominate such an arena.

Similar to Citizens United in the political process where the size of ones "voice" depends on the number of dollars behind it.

Seth Rich Murder Fall Out--WND Twitter Account Frozen

World News Daily tweeted on the Seth Rich murder story and found that its account was frozen due to "violation of twitter's rules."  However, which rule was broken was not specified and a perusal of the list of rules doesn't provide much of a clue either.

The tweet was:

Bombshell:  Donna Brazile warned off private eye on Seth Rich murder.

-------------------------

Why is the DNC chair person calling Seth Rich's family to tell them not to allow that private eye (Rod Wheeler) to snoop around?  Remember, it was a botched street robbery and had nothing to do with the DNC.....

Please remember that the content of the DNC emails was never disputed.  Only the route by which the emails made it to Wikileaks was contested--insider leak vs Russian hack.

Despite a Russian hack being an issue of national security, the DNC did not allow the FBI to examine its computers.  And the FBI did not insist.  We know that the FBI commonly seizes computers to pursue investigations.  But in this mater, vital to national security, it did not.  What is going on here?

False Flag.

Better odds than in Vegas anyways.

Posted this earlier as a gut reaction to Manchester as the event unfolded. Just seemed that the timing was convenient for some given the impending election.

Seth Rich Murder--More Mud Stirred Into the Waters

From Disobedient Media

The San Diego based One American News Network has released a new report highlighting key elements of the mystery surrounding the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich. OANN cites a number of inconsistencies and lingering questions in the case, while also noting that Rich's murder occurred in close proximity to the similarly strange death of UN official John Ashe. Ashe was found dead just days before he was set to testify against Clinton in relation to matters pertaining to a corruption case where Chinese billionaire Charlie Trie helped launder $1.2 million dollars as part of Chinese government efforts to influence Bill Clinton's 1996 presidential election. Ashe's death was originally reported as a heart attack, but the story changed after it emerged that the cause was in fact a crushed windpipe in what was labeled a "workout accident." The full report can be viewed here:

On May 25th, one day before OANN's report, a representative of the media company made a post on the online messageboard 4chan appealing for help locating information regarding the doctor who treated Seth Rich for gunshot injuries he sustained during the incident. Within minutes of the post, OANN's website was taken offline in a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack.

And enterprising Zerohedge reader found it in the google cache so we can watch it anyway.

Like many others, (but not everyone) I am very suspicious that this was a deep state murder and the efforts to prevent this story from gaining traction in the public discourse are deepening this suspicion for me.

My how the worm turns

http://www.npr.org/2017/08/01/540783715/lawsuit-alleges-fox-news-and-tru...

https://www.mediamatters.org/video/2017/08/01/rod-wheeler-explains-his-l...

Now Mr. Wheeler is suing Fox for misquoting and defaming him.  Of course Wheeler's history with this story is not pure.  He initially encouraged the conspiracy theory apparently created by Fox News, although he later  denied the allegations made by Fox as to what he (Wheeler) said.  I think he is somewhat credible here as he seems to make a habit of leaving himself wiggle room in his narrative of his involvement.  I haven't heard or seen any statements where he definitively said that he had seen or had evidence of the emails supposedly supporting the conspiracy theory that Rich was murdered by, effectively, the DNC.  Early on he did say that the evidence suggested such a conclusion, but he later retracted that opinion.

As far as I can tell, the whole CT centered on Ed Butowski, the money man and frequent collaborator with Fox News, Wheeler and Fox News in the persons of Sean Hannity and Ms. Zimmerman.

The latest breaking news is that the White House was involved in promoting the CT.  Wheeler and Butowski met with Sean Spicer.  See NPR article.

Quote:

On April 20, a month before the story ran, Butowsky and Wheeler — the investor and the investigator — met at the White House with then-press secretary Sean Spicer to brief him on what they were uncovering.

The first page of the lawsuit quotes a voicemail and text from Butowsky boasting that Trump himself had reviewed drafts of the Fox News story just before it went to air and was published.

Spicer now tells NPR that he took the meeting as a favor to Butowsky. Spicer says he was unaware of any contact involving the president. And Butowsky tells NPR that he was kidding about Trump's involvement.

The White House's motivation was, of course, further distraction from the Russia hacking story that the Trump administration labors mightily to quash.  The degree of involvement of the White House and possibly the POTUS is unclear but I'm sure there is more to come.

Nonetheless, I think it is clearer all the time that the CT is completely unfounded.
