The Biggest Turning Points In A Polarizing Campaign (jdargis)

Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state emerged early as a potentially serious problem for her campaign. However, she initially made jokes about the issue, responding dismissively to questions about it. Her failure to quickly put the matter to rest was a source of frustration for Democratic leaders early on. In the final weeks of the race, her campaign was rocked when law enforcement officials said emails pertinent to the closed investigation were discovered on a computer belonging to Anthony Weiner, a former congressman from New York and the estranged husband of Huma Abedin, a top aide for Mrs. Clinton.

What to know about the 15 states that will decide the election (jdargis)

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a Republican who became a polarizing national figure in the debate over immigration and border control, is facing the toughest reelection of his 24-year reign amid tussles with the Justice Department. National liberal and Hispanic groups have targeted the race as a chance to knock off the man they consider the poster boy for unjust immigration detention policies.

What Happens If Nobody Wins the Presidency? (jdargis)

The members of a given state’s House delegation would first conduct their own mini-election, possibly by secret ballot (which wouldn’t be necessary for the one-person delegations from Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming). The winner of that vote would get the state’s support. House rule-makers would likely need to decide in advance whether a majority or a mere plurality is needed.

Brexit: Theresa May insists government 'getting on with it' (jdargis)

But the campaigner who brought the High Court case said it would stop ministers acting like a "tin-pot dictatorship".

Judges ruled on Thursday that Parliament should vote on when the government can trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, starting formal negotiations with the EU

How Much Is This Land Worth? (jdargis)

The Standing Rock Sioux, fighting against the construction of the 1,200-mile Dakota Access Pipeline, find themselves in such a situation. “This demolition is devastating,” Tribal Chairman David Archambault II said in a statement in September. “These grounds are the resting places of our ancestors. The ancient cairns and stone prayer rings there cannot be replaced. In one day, our sacred land has been turned into hollow ground.”

Pesticide Drift Leads to Alleged Murder (jdargis)

Jones allegedly shot Mike Wallace, a 55-year-old soybean and cotton farmer from Monette, Ark, just over the Missouri border, after the two met along a stretch of road near Leachville, Ark., at Wallace’s request on Oct. 27. The two had argued over the phone about the pesticide dicamba before meeting up, Sheriff Dale Cook told KIAT. Wallace had previously complained to the state Plant Board about his soybeans being damaged by drifting dicamba, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports. There had previously been issues with dicamba being applied without permits to crops on a nearby farm at which Jones was an employee.

Re:Brexit: Theresa May insists government 'getting on with it'

Seems unlikely Britain will ever really be able to leave the EU. Bureaucrats always find endless ways to block something they don't want.

Gooood Morning America!.

The sun has risen in the East and is hurtling at 15" per second towards you.

The World waits with bated breath for your decision. Will you still try and Rule the World or are we looking at a different flavoured pie? One thing is for sure, this pie is well baked.

So get some coffee, get out in the queue and pull that lever. Let us see if this ship sinks to the left or to the right. (Not to put too fine a point on it, but there is no "Left" or "Right" on a ship). Nothing like the unforgiving  ocean or a wild fire-fight to dispel misconceptions.

Someone send Agent Green into the Whitehouse to snip the red wire on the Big Red Button. I'd like the show to continue just a little longer. I paid an awful lot of money for a front row seat.

I don't want no Grand Finale.

doing my civic duty tomorrow.

friends, tomorrow, as every 4 years, it will be my honor and privilege to do my civic duty by NOT voting.

i will not empower candidate A.

i will not empower candidate B.

i will not be morally responsible for the war crimes, the thefts, the lies, the frauds the mass murders perpetuated by the "winning candidate" (as determined by the wizard behind the curtain).

i will turn my back on them, and on their rigged, corrupt system which is wholly without legitimacy.

i will send a message to washington, and to all the pretenders to power, that, no, you do not have authority over me, i do not support you, i do not support your crimes, and the only legitimate interaction between human beings is based on voluntary consent and cooperation.

i will instead focus my attention on something more positive - my family, my work, my community.

i would encourage all my friends here to do likewise.

here are a couple of like-minded spirits in an excellent interview that just came out on the corbett report - james corbett interviews larken rose:
