US Meat Prices To Remain Elevated Amid Depleted Reserves – ZeroHedge

Beef, pork, and chicken in US cold storage warehouses have yet to recover from pandemic lows and could continue to support higher prices.

New United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) data shows beef reserves dropped 7.7% from a year ago in August, poultry supplies fell 20%, and pork plunged 44% to their lowest levels since 2017, according to Bloomberg.

Evergrande: Investors in the dark over $83m bond payment – BBC

Investors were left in the dark after troubled property giant Evergrande missed a deadline for a $83.5m (£61m) interest payment.

The Chinese firm is yet to make an announcement regarding the payment, which was due on Thursday.  Earlier in the week, the company said it had struck a deal over another interest payment worth $35.9m.  Global markets have been rocked by concerns over the firm’s ability to support its more than $300bn of debts.

Costco limits purchases on paper goods, water & key items amid supply chain delays – Fox

Costco confirmed it will start limiting purchases on essential household products for what has become a perfect storm of supply chain delays for many retailers.

“We are putting some limitations on key items like bath tissues, roll towels, Kirkland Signature water, high demand cleaning-related skews related to the uptick in the delta-related demand,” Costco chief financial officer Richard Galanti said during the company’s fourth quarter earnings call.

Petrol will continue to flow, says transport secretary – BBC

People should carry on buying petrol as normal, despite supply problems that have closed some stations, the government has said.

A “handful” of BP stations, and a small number of Esso-owned Tesco Alliance stations, were closed on Thursday because of a lack of delivery drivers.  But Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said refineries had “plenty of petrol”.  He told the BBC that the government could bring in the army to drive fuel tankers if it would help.  It is estimated that the UK is short of about 100,000 HGV drivers – with gaps made worse by the pandemic and Brexit.

Avro Energy sent money to firms run by owners – The Times

The young boss of a collapsed energy company that has left more than 580,000 families fearing higher bills this winter is at the heart of a web of firms that appear to have led to his family earning millions of pounds.

    We're in the Money

Remember that tune?  You probably qualify for a "booster" along with just about everyone else now, apparently.  Time to get onboard the choo choo and grow that IRA.

COVID-19 vaccine boosters could mean billions for drugmakers

Officials described the move as a first step. Boosters will likely be offered even more broadly in the coming weeks or months, including boosters of vaccines made by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. That, plus continued growth in initial vaccinations, could mean a huge gain in sales and profits for Pfizer and Moderna in particular.

“The opportunity quite frankly is reflective of the billions of people around the world who would need a vaccination and a boost,” Jefferies analyst Michael Yee said.

Wall Street is taking notice. The average forecast among analysts for Moderna’s 2022 revenue has jumped 35% since President Joe Biden laid out his booster plan in mid-August.

Most of the vaccinations so far in the U.S. have come from Pfizer, which developed its shot with Germany’s BioNTech, and Moderna. They have inoculated about 99 million and 68 million people, respectively. Johnson & Johnson is third with about 14 million people.

    Vax Dictate Pushback

I’d like to strategize how to push back effectively against the vaccine mandates.

Many of us are under threat of “jab or the job” from POTUS via our employers. What is the best way to push back within our companies?

Little things like referring to this as a vaccine dictate instead of mandate may reach a few, as the cognitive dissonance from reframing the issue makes them pause and consider whether the government is acting like a dictatorship in this regard.

This past week has seen four excellent articles by medical professionals summarizing scientific issues with the vaccines and COVID. The opposition has so far been pretty successful in marketing their authority as following the science. So presenting real science - well established principles of immunology, virology, and pandemics - also forces a cognitive dissonance on their narrative.

    what else can we do?

The illogic of mandates for our own good should give pause but people seem to accept it. If something is good for me, then persuade me; I shouldn’t need to be forced (leaving aside the vast immortality with initiating force). So maybe some can see the illogic of it all but many just ignore it and obey.

I have heard rumors of mass resignations pending as people refuse to get the jab. Certainly there is a business impact there to explore. A business case can be made to not enforce these dictates. But what would business leaders find persuasive in the very short term?

    Petitions? Employee surveys?

This shouldn’t happen in a free country founded on individual rights. Government works for us, not the reverse. It angers and saddens me beyond words that the USA has come to this.

so what persuasion techniques would be useful here?

Final note: excellent piece on the psychology of dissent: https://www.juliusruechel.com/2021/07/the-emperor-has-no-clothes-finding.html?m=1

    Britain is a mess

    Just spoke to my parents.

Petrol/gas for their cars is getting harder and harder to source. My dad had trouble getting back from London.

I’m wondering how countries are going to police vaccine passports when there’s food and gas shortages and power outages. Vax passes will be the least of people’s concerns.

    ‘Wheels coming off the bus’

Can anyone from the UK offer their insight to what is going on there and why?

    Depends on size/type of employer

Hi Red--of course, the answer probably depends on the size and type of employer.  I appealed to a VP in our company, but in reality the decision will be made by those who oversee our company.  We are government contractors on a military base, so the powers that be must navigate federal, state, military regulations in addition to their own.  I suspect those with one-of-a-kind skills will be more successful.  Your state may have certain regulations about appeals-- I read here someone whose husband made a religious appeal and then found out the state law required employers to accept all religious exemptions.  There are a number of lawsuits started as well.  Good luck to you...

    Some Resource links for you

    https://www.thecontrolgroup.org/

PROTECT YOURSELF BY KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS!

    1. Do NOT quit your job! If you do, you have lost valuable rights. Keep reading and learn how to get your employer in “checkmate” so that they must go on paying you if they do fire you for refusing these dangerous jabs!
    2. Employers cannot lawfully condition your employment upon your service as a subject in a dangerous medical experiment! The propaganda now going around that the Covid jabs are “approved” for regular use is a FRAUD! There are no “approved” Covid jabs on the market. The only one that is “approved” (beyond Emergency Use) is the “Comirnaty” which is unavailable, and further, the only thing about it that was “FDA approved” was the labelling for it!
