Economy

Warren Buffett Called Bitcoin ‘Rat Poison’ — Now It’s Closing In On Berkshire Hathaway’s Valuation (adam)

Buffett once said bitcoin is “probably rat poison squared.”

“In terms of cryptocurrencies, generally, I can say with almost certainty that they will come to a bad ending. If I could buy a five-year put on every one of the cryptocurrencies, I’d be glad to do it but I would never short a dime’s worth,” Buffett told CNBC in 2018.

U.S.’s First Case of U.K. Mutation Sparks Search for Source

A 20-something man from Colorado is the first American known to be infected with a new variant of coronavirus that emerged this fall in the U.K., raising concern that a more transmissible strain could spread widely across the country.

The Colorado State Laboratory confirmed the patient had the mutated form of the virus, known as B.1.1.7, and informed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in a statement Tuesday.

Covid: Trump signs relief and spending package into law

US President Donald Trump has belatedly signed into law a coronavirus relief and spending package bill, averting a partial government shutdown.

Mr Trump had previously refused to sign the bill, criticising “wasteful spending” and calling for higher payouts to people hit by the pandemic. The delay meant that millions temporarily lost unemployment benefits. The relief package worth $900bn (£665bn) was approved by Congress after months of negotiation.

Tucked into Congress’s massive stimulus bill: Tens of billions in special-interest tax giveaways

Congress on Monday unveiled a 5,593-page spending bill and then voted on it several hours later, with lawmakers claiming urgent action was needed to rescue an ailing economy ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic.

But tucked in the bill was over $110 billion in tax breaks that strayed far from the way the bill was marketed to many Americans. These giveaways include big tax cuts for liquor producers, the motorsports entertainment sector and manufacturers of electric motorcycles.

Energy

The batteries that could make fossil fuels obsolete

The twin smokestacks of the Moss Landing Power Plant tower over Monterey Bay. Visible for miles along this picturesque stretch of the north Californian coast, the 500-foot-tall (150m) pillars crown what was once California’s largest electric power station – a behemoth natural gas-fired generator. Today, as California steadily moves to decarbonise its economy, those stacks are idle and the plant is largely mothballed. Instead, the site is about to begin a new life as the world’s largest battery, storing excess energy when solar panels and wind farms are producing electricity and feeding it back into the grid when they’re not.

Inside a cavernous turbine building, a 300-megawatt lithium-ion battery is currently being readied for operation, with another 100-megawatt battery to come online in 2021.

Environment

Exxon Knows Its Carbon Future And Keeps the Data From View

It was February 2019, and Exxon Mobil Corp. was ready to make one of the largest-ever investments in a U.S. hub for overseas shipments of liquefied natural gas. The $10 billion project was going to be built on the Texas coast under an auspicious name: Golden Pass.

The federal government sent its highest-ranking energy official, then-Secretary Rick Perry, to celebrate the new terminal as a gift of “clean energy” to “our friends around the world.” Exxon Chief Executive Officer Darren Woods promised to showcase the “environmental benefits of natural gas.” There was no mention of the planet-warming emissions that would be released once Golden Pass starts operating, nor had forecasts of climate pollution been shared with Exxon’s investors.

Siberia’s enormous hole in the ground is getting bigger (video)

A large crater in Siberia is getting bigger due to the way permafrost interacts with the environment.  It is helping scientists understand more about past climates and how the permafrost is reacting to a warming world.

Biden has massive climate plans. Where will he find the money to fund them?

Until now, any lawmaker who asked for $2 trillion in federal funding without offsetting savings would have been laughed out of politics.  But then came the Green New Deal. And then the coronavirus pandemic. And then another bout of rock-bottom interest rates.

Suddenly, a couple of trillion dollars doesn’t sound like as much money as it used to. And that’s good news for President-elect Joe Biden, who is planning to pursue a costly package of climate change policies aimed at transforming the country’s economy, including the way farmers plant crops and the way automakers design engines.

Bill Gates nefarious plans....be afraid, very afraid!!!

Bill Gates appears to be describing how vaccines work and their side effects.

On the other hand, he may be a mass murderer intent on killing as many people as he can before he dies himself. Did you see the one where he bites the head off a live chicken, like a wannabe circus geek?

Aspen Colorado is where the .01% ski. More likely its resentment from locals who would like them all to go home and quit driving up the cost of rent in the area.

    Next....

Oh. There we are. Children will be vaccinated without their parent's permission. Looks more like a child over the age of 11 can get the vaccine if they want it. Their parents won't be able to hold them back.

It's all part of Bill Gate's nefarious plan, I guess. Wish he'd get a new hobby, even if mass murder is what he does best. Be afraid. BE. VERY. AFRAID!

Patrick Byrne: China Is Taking Us Out From Within

"Patrick Byrne, founder and former CEO of Overstock, said that China is “taking us out from within” during an interview with Dr. Jerome Corsi on Monday.

“The greatest way to fight a war, in the Chinese way of thinking, is not to have to fight at all. That’s what they’ve done here,” Byrne said.

Byrne studied Chinese history at Beijing Normal University from 1983 to 1984. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese studies from Dartmouth College.

“Though we spend a trillion dollars a year between our military and our intelligence, national security circles … that trillion dollars we have and we’ve built, you know, things that can stop all their planes and their missiles and all kinds of things. But we missed the one they use, which is not a fight at all, not firing a bullet or missile at all, but taking us out from within. And that’s what’s going on.”

Byrne pointed out that the Chinese regime is engaged in “a slow coup.”

“It’s a revolution. The stages of such a revolution are very well mapped out. We understand this. It’s demoralization, disorientation, crisis, then normalization: those four steps.”

“The demoralization is what happened this year with COVID,” Byrne continued."

As goes Kalifornia, so goes the country

    https://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/news/2020/12/31/multibillion-dollar-f-you.html

As Covid-19 descended on California in March and April of this year, economies began to shut down and the debate raged over what businesses were deemed “essential.” Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, and Alameda County authorities went back and forth over whether the Tesla plant in Fremont should be allowed to reopen.

This dialogue was punctuated by a pithy tweet from Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, who describes herself as a progressive Democrat, “F*ck Elon Musk.”

At that time, we had no idea how much that tweet, and attitude, would cost us.

Nine months later, Elon Musk is gone. He is selling all his personal real estate in the state. He is now a resident of the state of Texas. He has moved his philanthropic foundation to Texas, too.

Consider the unfathomable irony of progressive Democrats forcing Elon Musk to give up on California. Musk came to this state as an immigrant and proceeded to do more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) and its subsidiary, solar panel manufacturer SolarCity Corp., than all the “progressive” politicians in the state combined. Musk didn’t talk about it. He simply brought products to market that benefited the consumer, the environment and his shareholders. He should have been the poster boy for the green agenda, but instead they turned on him because he committed the ultimate sins: He made money and he questioned their authority.

This year, Musk is likely paying billions in state tax. Next year, he will be a resident of another state.

The damage goes much deeper than the tax revenue of one person. Musk didn’t just leave the state. He turned on the state. It is now his mission to get other innovators to leave as well. According to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, he is on the phone with Musk once a week, strategizing about how to get other California companies to relocate to Texas. In the last few weeks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (NYSE: HPE) and Oracle Corp. (NYSE: ORCL) have both announced they are moving their headquarters to Texas, with other potential moves in the pipeline.

In a nutshell, California state income tax is the highest in the nation, California's ranking for “business friendliness” is the lowest, and we have elected representatives who would lob crass, vulgar F-bombs at the people who are paying the freight.

LA Sheriffs raid parties because of Covid

    https://6abc.com/health/90-arrested-900-given-warnings-at-super-spreader-calif-new-years-parties/9288632/

LOS ANGELES -- A special task force of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department conducted raids on five New Year's Eve "super-spreader'' parties across the county, making over 90 arrests and taking seven handguns off the streets, officials said Friday. The raids included two in Los Angeles, one in Malibu and more, LASD Sgt. Bob Boese said. The locations raided included rented homes, vacant warehouses, hotels and shuttered businesses.Overall, 90 adults were arrested and cited for violations of the county's Safer At Home order to stem the surge in COVID-19 cases, Boese continued. One person was arrested for alleged possession of narcotics and a loaded firearm. Over 900 people were warned and advised of the updated safer-at-home order. Deputies recovered five handguns from the event in Hawthorne, officials said.

May need moral support--Just slammed the EM Docs FB page on Ivm

A question by an open minded EM doc was posted on the EM Docs FB page asking what do you do when a patient with COVID asks for IVM?

5% of responses were sympathetic while 95% blasted away at the "stupidity" of suggesting ivm for this use.

Against my more cautious instincts and my knowledge that non-conforming doctors are verbally beaten to a pulp by traditional doctors (the conformity enforcement mechanism of groups), I dove in and posted many links, studies and answered many specific objections with brief comments and the supporting studies.

I tried to be tactful in tone: "Newer information suggest that understanding may need to be modified ...."

Unfortunately, I am expecting the equivalent of a "Code Red" from the movie "A Few Good Men."  Tight groups have little tolerance for non-conformity.

I am sending you a huge wave of moral support. And appreciation for your tenacity and courage. Even if the backlash in your conformist group is harsh, please don't forget that there will be people who don't jump in the fray, but silently are listening and benefitting from your research and courage to share what you know. You are making a difference, as we speak. What an upside down world.   And now, I'm off to set up my purchase with Sunil, who responded to my email while I slept.

    Sending moral support SP

Just know in your heart that it is the non-conformists and truth speakers who tend to bring about societal change. If you changed the mind of even one ER  doc, it was worth doing. If you made others think twice, or planted seeds of doubt re their traditional, conformist ways of thinking, it was worth doing.

Hold your head high - you are bringing your integrity to the group, using your awesome power of one to try to make a difference. That is all anyone can ever do.

    Way to go!

    Well done!

You are either going to change a bunch of minds and help a multitude of people or you are going to change 2 minds (and therefore still help a bunch of people).

I would guess the overt response you get won't be positive at all, but a few of the other doctors will look into it even if they don't have the courage to take an unpopular stance publicly.   When push comes to shove they will make a better decision with a patient because of you.

    Thanks

Agree completely with the above two responses.   It only takes 1 person to make a difference and for others to see.  You have given the 5% sympathizers more information and they may think about doing the same.   And maybe the next time someone speaks up the percentage wil be 10% instead of 5%.  Each time someone stands up the light gets a little brighter.

    Great job!!

"Why would you use horse dewormer against Covid????"

Thanks so much SP. I think Dr. Kory's senate testimony and the meta-analysis at ivmmeta.com speak for themselves and whenever someone tries to paint me as the quack, I ask them to directly refute the scientific evidence presented. Which of course they can't do and generally, their cognitive dissonance then manifests itself as anger and ridicule because to accept that IVM is effective against Covid directly calls into question why it isn't being promoted by the various alphabet soup health bureaucracies that are supposed to be helping people. CD is very powerful and people who like to consider themselves as being scientific become very unscientific when faced with irrefutable evidence that invalidates their political world views. But I always maintain the high road and steer it back to the evidence, which generally just makes them angrier...

    Hang in there SP

I typed a long comment and lost it on the send. Damn. Let me try again.

I am sick of the lack of early treatment strategies in treatment of this. Go home and come back when you can't breathe is hardly a strategy.

I have a staff member with a sister diagnosed 3 weeks ago. She thought she had a bad sinus infection. 55 years old, no comorbidities. She tested positive and was told to go home and come back if she got worse. 3 days later she went back and was admitted to the regional hospital in her rural area. 3 days after that she is flown to a hospital in Dallas and placed on a vent. 5 days later she comes off. 7 days later, back on the vent and is deteriorating. I don't expect a positive outcome and feel this could have been mitigated with some early intervention.

I have used the bully pulpit at my office to "educate" my staff members. None have taken me too seriously. However, I did receive a text from one of them yesterday (she was out with Covid for 2 weeks last month) and covid is running through her circle. She wanted to know about "that drug you get at the feed store". I texted her the I-MASK+.

You are to be commended for sticking your neck out. Don't let them get you down. A lot of people have died needlessly and you are doing your part to try and change that.

You are to be commended SandPuppy!

Whatever flack you get from taking a stand publicly, know that you are held in high esteem here by this tribe.  As with MarkM, I have taken a stand amongst my office mates, posting what I learn out of care for them through the year, always linking directly to the science.  I don't care what they think of me... how can I withhold this information if I truly care about them?

You are in a position to change the minds that count the most - those of doctors who might be the first to see a sick patient.  Godspeed to you SP.

    For me, as a technologist, this one graphic from the IVM meta-study site speaks most loudly... there is no way a scientist or doctor can look at this and deny that it shows efficacy;

I don't know if this has been posted here before, but a recent study has been submitted for publication in The Lancet. The study affirms the efficacy of Ivermectin in the treatment of Covid 19. (p<0·001)

Andrew Hill, University of Liverpool virologist posts his meta-analysis of ivm and discusses it.

Covered at the Swiss Policy Research website.

WHO-sponsored review of ivermectin trials indicates 83% reduction in covid mortality.

Dr Andrew Hill of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool (UK) is currently performing a WHO-sponsored review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of ivermectin against covid. In the following 12-minute video, Dr Hill is presenting his preliminary results, which indicate a highly significant 83% reduction in covid mortality (95% CI 65%-92%).

This result is based on in-hospital trials, so it does not yet take into account early ambulatory and prophylactic treatment. The authors of the review intend to include three more trials, due to be published sometime in January, before providing a final conclusion. At the end of his presentation, Dr Hill describes ivermectin as a potentially “transformational treatment”.

Thanks to all the data you’ve vetted here having been sent to my GP she now prescribes IVM. Even as a prophylactic if requested. I also am sure IVM has kept at least two people I know out of the hospital- they were sent home from the hospital with antibiotics and a warning to return “if your lips start turning blue “.

    So, we got it....(need help)

So we here at Chateau Snyder, despite precautions, are Covid-19 positive. Can anyone post the link to the video where Chris talks about what he'd do/take if he got it? I trried searching, but looking at screens right now if a bear (I'm not looking as I type this). I'm going to ask my doc about Ivermectin, too, but I expect he'll say now. Anyone know a trusted source where I can get some?

    thanks,

Places to get Ivermectin (some quicker than others)

Snydeman, I'm sorry to hear about you and your family getting COVID-19.

If your doctor says no to prescribing you Ivermectin pills, probably the fastest way to get it would be to buy the horse worming paste from your local Tractor Supply Co store, if you have one.

WalMart also carries Durvet Ivermectin horse worming paste, but it looks like you may have to have it sent to you.

Or you can order on-line at Amazon, but it looks like most options are now delayed anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months.  Here's the link for one I found that looks like it is still in supply (not the apple flavor, but hey!)

SandPuppy also posted that ValleyVet.com carries ivermectin horse worming paste (with accompanying warning).

EDIT: Here is the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care (FLCCC) Alliance paper that Chris says to print out and take to your doctor to show them the scientific evidence in favor of using Ivermectin to treat COVID-19.

EDIT2: Here is the link to a Peak Prosperity thread on Ivermectin.  In comment #17 Sand Puppy (an ER doctor) gives a nice simple description on how to use the horse paste and says what dosage he would use if he got sick.

The paste comes in a plastic syringe; you set the ring on the plunger for the weight of the animal (notches are in 50 pound increments).  Once that is set, you push the syringe's plunger to dispense the paste.  It is easy once you've done it.  You can push it out onto a cracker, or onto a piece of waxed paper.

    Good luck!

    IVM

I want to get some Ivermectin for the inevitability of this disease. Is the horse paste (which I would have issues taking) the only way to get it without any additives? Thanks everyone in advance.

    Wishing your family the best

You got some great advice and support here - the same advice and support that helped my husband and I through with relative ease over the last two weeks. We’re lucky to have such a great community. Get lots of rest and don’t get discouraged by the ups and downs. It seems to go that way. Keep us updated.

@sand_puppy, I’m so glad you spoke up. It was the right thing to do (as I tell myself every time I email the flccc website to someone even though they think I’m half-baked). I think of the impact that enlightening even one person can have and when that one person is a doctor...

    the galileo effect

Your doctors group reminds me a whole lot of the Catholic Church way back when their orthodoxy was threatened.  "Wait, so the Earth isn't the center of the Universe?  That's blasphemy."

This isn't about science.  It is about herd-following.  We know that evolutionary biology programs us to follow the herd.  That's because, mostly, the herd is right.  Two heads are better than one.  But - every now and then - the herd is wrong, as it is right now.

Why is the herd wrong?  Our system used to be pretty good.  But the bad people figured out, about 20 years ago, that if they control what trials get run - by corrupting the researchers - then they control standard of care.  And if they control standard of care, they can feed through whatever products they come up with - working, not working, semi-working, etc.

The Backfire Effect will see to it that these doctors (who bought into this process years ago, because it made sense) cannot see the corruption that is now firmly in place.  Like the Catholic Church, when Pope Fauci speaks, they must all follow.  Because - heirarchy.  Corrupt Fauci, you own everything.

Dr Marik came from South Africa.  Perhaps that's why he questions authority a bit more.

So those of us who see the corruption in place are the modern-day Galileos.  We draw the ire of the Church.  We get excommunicated.  The Backfire Effect sees to that.  The bad people were smart to corrupt the process in this way.  That's why sickcare runs 20% of GDP in the US.  That didn't happen by accident.

But what choice do we have?  "I hate to tell you, but the Earth really isn't the center of the universe."

Dave, while I strongly agree with you about the medical corruption, your "Galileo" analogy is quite flawed.  Your understanding of Galileo history has been colored by anti-Catholic spin.

I presume you've never seen a Catholic perspective on Galileo.  I suggest that you check out this from catholic.com.  I include a few excerpts below.

    https://www.catholic.com/tract/the-galileo-controversy

"... it turned out that [Galileo's] ideas were not entirely correct, either. Galileo believed that the sun was not just the fixed center of the solar system but the fixed center of the universe."

"[Galileo] could not answer the strongest argument against [heliocentrism],...given the technology of Galileo’s time, no such [observable parallax shifts in the stars’ positions] could be observed. It would require more sensitive measuring equipment than was available in Galileo’s day..."

"When Galileo met with the new pope, Urban VIII, in 1623, he received permission from his longtime friend to write a work on heliocentrism, but the new pontiff cautioned him not to advocate the new position, only to present arguments for and against it. "

The final quote is most relevant for our situation today.   The pope in 1623 did not take a strong stand on the issue because there was debate among scientists and church leaders of the day.

Debate among church leaders about our current situation exists as well.

Former Vatican "nuncio" (ambassador) to the US, Archbishop Vigano, has been an unusually strong critic of Pope Francis and "The Great Reset".

Vigano has communicated unusually strong support for President Trump, medical freedom and ethics in medical research.

In Vigano's October 2020 open letter to Trump, the archbishop warns about...

    "imposition of a health dictatorship"

"the imposition of the vaccination will be accompanied by the requirement of a health passport..."

Mike Adams, the typically anti-Catholic founder of NaturalNews.com reported the following about Vigano.

"Scientists and lawyers are coming together to reign in medical tyranny… and laboratory science fraud....Archbishop Carlo Mari Vigano...is bringing together ethical scientists and lawyers from around the world to combat the growing medical police state. Vigano’s Italian non profit association is developing a worldwide campaign to challenge medical tyranny… https://www.naturalnews.com/2020-10-06-scientists-and-lawyers-reign-in-medical-tyranny-lab-science-fraud.html

It will take a broad coalition to counter Big Pharma's enormous, Mafia-like, influence in society.   Christian churches are potentially a valuable ally.  They are one of the few organizations of any size who are concerned about ethics and have a history of opposing leftist, Big Government tyranny.  Yet churches have not been as deeply infected by Big Pharma as most institutions.

Unfortunately members of the clergy tend to get their news from Pharma-funded corporate media.  So when I present information from Chris and other sources, it is so surprising to them.  It is not easy for them to accept the possibility that Fauci and others in medical research are snakes.

We have much work to do--together!
