A Great 'Bad' Honey Harvest

I had a bad honey harvest this year. And, boy, is it good.

I say it's "bad" because I had expected to have nearly 10x more honey to harvest by now. My bees really disappointed me on the volume side of things this year.

Beginning Beekeeping

At the Rowe weekend, a number of people approached me about my experience now that I'm wrapping up my first year as a beekeeper.

Given the pace of the weekend, those discussions were rushed. And there were several folks I ended up not having time to talk to. So I thought I'd provide some helpful resources here for those considering getting into the practice.

VERY Close call

As we invest in our preps to increase our resiliency, we are often operating in new territory. So, we are vulnerable to the unexpected - or as Donald Rumsfeld would put it: the 'unknown unknowns'.

I recently had a wake up call on this front.

Yesterday I came within 1 inch of losing my hive. I mean that literally: ONE inch.
