Step 0: The Fundamentals - Emergency Preparedness

The instability of our global systems as laid out within The Crash Course allows us to make the following prediction confidently: The Next 20 Years Will Be Completely Unlike The Last 20

With change being the one thing we can count on, it makes great sense to prepare for it.

But what kind of change? And when will it arrive? Any how disruptive will it be?

We can conjecture as best we're able (and that's what we do on a daily basis here at PeakProsperity.com), but the actual details of the future will remain unknowable until they unfold.

What Should I Do?

The most common question by far we get on this website is “What should I do?” Once people watch The Crash Course and are awakened to the very real threats posed by Peak Oil and reckless monetary policy, they understandably want to know how to position themselves intelligently.

Our recommendation: start building resilience into your life today. Ensure that you, your family, and your community are as prepared and sustainably situated as possible so that you can enjoy a high quality of life regardless of how the future plays out. » Read more

BP: the other oil leak they don't want you to know about!

Matt Simmons talks about using a nuke to stop the leaks. Says all that methane is going to make people ill and the hurricanes could be a disaster. BP exec's should go to jail for gross negligence. This is the worst oil disaster in history!

Fictional account of the day the SHTF

Another post had been written being a simulation of crisis and preparedness. I found that post to be very thought provoking but it was also based on some extreme events such as a terrorist attack and EMP. No offense to the author of those posts, but I wanted to try to visualize what life could be like if the economy and life continue as they are and eventually come to a crisis without a major catalyst such as a terrorist attack.

Are You Prepared for Disaster? Check yourself against this list of skills . . .

On the McAlvaney Intelligence Advisor, I found this remarkably comprehensive list of Principles for Self Sufficiency . I especially like this "checklist" as it focuses primarily on one's own inner state and thought processes, rather than external items like food, precious metals, and weapons.

Loss in Post Collapse America

Almost everyone here realizes that troubles are in the immediate future.

That said, some of us are feeling the heat, some are seeing the flames, and some are entirely detached from the whole nightmare.
At some point, this will end.
All of us will be effected by the collapsing system we live under.

The fissures in families, the loss of material wealth, inevitable deaths due to dependancy on medications that may or may not be available, or deaths; all loom over us.
