Davos Departing from Daily Digest

Saturday, September 26, 2009, 9:18 AM

I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Davos, our MVP blogger.  I am more than a little melancholy to announce that Davos will soon depart from his role of scouring the depths of the Internet to bring us the Daily Digest we’ve all grown addicted to over the past year.

Davos has provided an intensely valuable resource to all of us here on the site, and his humor and refreshing perspective have added a much-needed dose of laughter to our daily practice of solemnly shaking our heads at mainstream media and the powers that be.

I know from personal experience that what he's been doing is a full time job and one that requires an extraordinary amount of energy and perseverence.  Sometimes we don't fully treasure those gifts until they are  gone.

Freed up from the daily grind, Davos will delve deeper into his own personal journey of preparation and prosperity.  You can read more about his plans below.  We will all miss the sizzling tips and careful sleuthing Davos offers us, but we wish him all the best as he shakes free of the pixel world and heads off very much into the real world with his vision.

Thank you, Davos!!

With that said, I want to announce that we will now open up the Daily Digest to a wider perspective.  Davos would not have been able to do what he does without the many helpful links that readers provide on a daily basis.  We’d now like to take your help and voices to the next level, and turn the Daily Digest into a community wide Daily Digest, where everyone can share data, tips and links.

We have set up a new email account: [email protected], where you can send the links you want to share, 24/7.  When you write us, please include the direct link, as well as the snippet of text you would like posted with it.  All links are subject to editorial review, but we hope to turn the Daily Digest into the ideal potluck supper, with a tasty banquet of perspectives and findings to share among the community at large.

Or, if you think you'd like to step up and run the Digest for a day (or more) of the week, drop me a line and we can talk.  It represents a chance to reach thousands of readers every day with your unique information discoveries.

Please join me in wishing Davos the best of luck as he heads off onto the next part of his journey.  And with that, please join us in making the new Daily Digest the exciting prism it can be.

Write us anytime at [email protected].

Your (other) faithful information scout,

Chris

Davos-

You will be missed, I looked forward to your daily post.  You have been a blessing to me in my journey of sorting out the facts of this crazy financial world.  I wish you the best in what ever you may be doing!  I hope you will be "popping" in from time to time.

Take care

Mark

I was just thinking about Davos today and how much work it must be to scour the worlds news and find the real gems that seem to sum it up each day.  How ironic that you're leaving that post and moving on to better focus on your personal world.  I have nothing but gratitude for your presence here at CM and best wishes for your future.  I hope the winds of change will be calm for you Davos.  Take care.

Davos,

You will be sorely missed here.  For each of those who post to say it, there's probably another 10 or 20 who share the sentiment ... we count on you as our source of "real news" and there will be no replacing you.  If you will be continuing this contribution at another site, we would all like to know where to tune in.  If not, please say hi from time-to-time and let us know the "oh, my god!" articles you have found.

Majorly tight hug included here.  ... dons

Davos,

I, too, have not yet posted until today. Your Daily Digest was a daily-must-see for me. The education I received is an invaluable one and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your input is unique and will be missed.

With much appreciation,

Ray

P.S. Would it be possible to have a listing on this site of the different sources where you would go for info?

The DG is the first place I go to on the net when I turn the 'puter on in the morning, and I wouldn't be doing that if I didn't think you were doing an amazing job...... So thanks fo all the hard work, and good luck with your preparations, it'll be hard but satisfying work, I can attest to that personally!

Davos

You have provided me with (and many more, I'm sure) my favorite and most often visited "get-up-to-speed-for-the-day" site on the web.

Many thanks. I do hope you'll continue to chime in from time to time to help keep us on track.

All the best in your future endeavors - may the wind always be at your back and your path clear and straight

I’ll be missing my daily dose of vitamin D3 (Davos’ Daily Digest) . . . . . I hope I don’t get the swine flu . . . . Maybe that’s what all these sniffles are about . . . .

Hi Davos,

Thank you for the good work! I really liked it very much.

Of course you know, but you have been part of many daily rituals all around the world (For me the Netherlands).

Back from work, after dinner, the first thing to do was find out if the DD was already out. Now you are slashing holes in many rituals and right you are! I can imagine you are exhausted by the efforts of the DD. An other focus for you, also for us.

All the best, keep us informed,

Kind regards,

Woody

I greatly appreciated the Daily Digest and thanks for tirelessly putting it together every day.  But I am grateful for the time being that it is over because I couldn't keep up and after a while my brain locked up going "ok, ok, I get it, I get it, ..."

Must add my $10 worth (uhh, what does the dollar value amount to today for what was the true 2 copper pennies way back when?)

Thank you, Davos! Your eclectic capture of not-just-for-the media news was so very valuable to me and many many others. Labor of love that illuminated and on occasion set fire to my understanding of "just what the heck is going on?"

ciao and meow--best--best--best. Thrive!

Re: Davos Departing from Daily Digest

Davos,

Thanks for all your hard work over the last year or so.  Reading your digest was a daily ritual for me and I selfishly wish you could keep doing your good work.  From reading your digest I gathered we are on a similar journey.

I have been slowly converting my property over to run as much as possible without any power.  This year alone I spent many thousands to divert all water from around my entire property to be captured by the pond.  I will be adding to the fish already present.  The septic system will be 100 percent gravity and the water supply will have a manual option.

Next year a 1000 sq foot glass greenhouse will be added to grow fruit and veggies that I suspect will not be able to be sourced regularly up here in the great white north in the not too distant future.  Next year I will also be starting to add passive solar heating and pv systems.  I also would like to dedicate 10 acres of my land to produce oil crops to produce some biodiesel.  I figure I need the world to hold together for the next 3 years to be self sufficient.

In closing I hope you will be able to find the time to keep us abreast of your journey and progress.

All the best

E

Davos,

I don't post much (I think that this is # 2), but I have to send you an Icere thanks!  I read your digest daily and find it to be a refreshing alternitive from the MSM.  You really cut through the BS to deliver a succinct daily briefing of current news.  I will miss your info & spice, but ... bless you in your endeavors.

Thanks,

Re: Davos Departing from Daily Digest

Chris it is a sad day that Davos will not be involved with the DD. Davos & you both have done a masterful job of making people aware of the possibilities that some very ugly realities have the potential to actually happen. That is priceless in many ways.

What both of you do & many others that help here takes a lot of time to sort through.....it can be a lot of work & there is a real art to keeping it balanced & accurate.

Hopefully Davos is just taking a well deserved break & “will be back” but the show must go on. I hope you find someone or somehow to carry this forward on your site.

Most people here by now probably know I am Peter Schiff fan along with Ran & Ron Paul, Jim Rogers & Marc Faber etc. I run these things down daily for my own info so I always share these on the DD while I read Davos posts everyday. I just hope this can stay the same somehow since having a central area to post current events has been nice.

You guys are the BestSmile!

Davos, thank-you for all you've done for us!

I'll miss hearing the little tidbits about how you're doing (kids, garden etc.) and advice (what chickens to get, etc.) from e-mailing with you with Daily Digest suggestions.  In been a pleasure and honor to be a part of this community, and to share its interests, with you.  I hope we still get to see you around the site on occassion, and hear how you are doing!

Good luck on your home projects ahead!  It sounds like you've made a really good choice for you and your family.
