With the markets down nearly 10% in just a single week, panicked investors are asking: What the heck is going on?

And while at Peak Prosperity we've long expected a breakage in the market like this, many of our readers are asking us: What's likely to happen from here? and Are there any steps we should be taking now?

In response to these important questions, plus to address any other burning ones you might have at this point, we're holding an urgent webinar this coming Tuesday, Feb 13th at 8pm EST/5pm PST.

Chris will provide in-depth context into the recent market plunge and his assessment of what the near-term future holds for the markets. Markets and central banking expert Axel Merk will join him to offer his insights, as well. Representatives from New Harbor Financial, our endorsed financial adviser, will also be on hand to answer any specific questions folks have about portfolio strategies.

Last week was EXACTLY the sort of swift, violent correction we've been predicting given the market's extreme overvaluation. Is this the start of a much bigger crash, as we saw in 2008? If so, positioning decisions at this time are critical.

The webinar costs $50 to attend, will last about an hour and half, and draw heavily from audience Q&A. So bring your most pressing questions .

Post-Webinar Playback

A video recording of the webinar will be made available to participants after the webinar is over. That means there's no reason to worry if you can't make the live event, or need to skip out on parts of it due to meetings or other obligations. You'll be able to re-watch the webinar as much as you like.

How and where do I listen to the webinar?

On this page?

I've not participated in any previous webinars, hence my ignorance of procedures.

Also, where and how do I submit questions? Can I do so prior to the event? If so, where?

(I have registered already.)

Walter --

You were sent a confirmation email right after registering, which contains the URL to use to link to the webinar tomorrow night. Another similar email will be sent to you 15 minutes before the webinar starts tomorrow.

As for questions, the registration process had a box to submit any questions of importance to you.

But don't worry, you can simply suggest questions here in the Comments section on this page.

And, just to make sure it's clearly understood, you'll be able to ask question in real-time (using the chat interface) during the webinar for Chris, Axel, et al to react to.

cheers,

Adam

No Lance

For a brief 24 hours there, we were excited that Lance Roberts agreed to join in tomorrow's webinar.

But, sadly, he's had to cancel due to a medical condition. He's OK, but needs to attend to an issue.

Things will proceed as originally planned, with Chris and Axel Merk deconstructing the recent market action and the likeliest developments from here, and the team from New Harbor Financial fielding individual portfolio allocation questions.

See you all tomorrow night!

Peak emails!

And so it was, Adam. Sorry for my oversight, and thanks for helping. One does get quite buried under the usual weight of emails.

view after the fact?

I can't watch live, because I have a prior commitment, but if I register, will there be a replay option?

Projected 12-year S&P 500 return of 0%

On the webinar tonight, John Hussman's research forecasting a 12-year return for the S&P 500 of 0% was cited.

Take MarketCap/GVA, put it on an inverted log scale (left) and you get the blue line below. The red line (right scale) is the average annual nominal total return of the S&P 500 over the subsequent12-year period. The correlation between the two is 93%. From present levels of valuation, we fully expect the S&P 500 to lose value, on a total return basis, over the coming 12-year horizon. That’s not a worst-case scenario or an outcome that depends on unusual economic outcomes. It’s actually the standard, run-of-the-mill expectation given current valuation extremes, and it assumes substantial expansion in the U.S. economy over this horizon.

You can read Hussman's full argument for the projected 0% (actually, negative) return by clicking here.
