If you are looking for a good summer read that will inspire you to grow more food and learn about some of the trials and tribulations of a family taking the plunge and eating fully local, this book won't disappoint.

This book has given my family some great recipe ideas ("Eggs in a Nest" is a weekly dinner that even my 5 year daughter loves) and we are always on the look out for old farm books for the library to help us in our homesteading efforts.

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle can also serve as a great way to start conversations about resiliency building with neighbors and family who have not taken the red pill yet and need some easing into various topics. (Food Security, Peak Oil and Food shortages, etc)
