Several users have been suspended for ignoring me.  I will ask once again for the personal argument on this thread to cease.

What if you're wrong on your assumption that there is no global warming? Are you prepared to bare the consequenses? Do you even care? You probably don't even have kids...

It goes without saying everyone has a right to their own opinion.  And everyone has the right to be sceptical.  But when scepticism turns into certainty that the other side is part of a world-wide conspiracy, because if GW is a problem it is a global problem, that is a strategic mistake.  My point being people should find consensus and build on common ground or there never will be the critical mass to do something about the abuses of the Fed, for example.

The way this topic has disintegrated proves my point.

In following this thread (for far too long) one small thing is driving me crazy.  Why are so many of the commenters using the term "maths"?  I have never heard or read of 's' being added to math.  Is this some English dialect I'm not familiar with?

A common affectation, like dropping the "h" sound from humour.

Unfortunately, the effect of the tiny minority of well-funded, well-publicized "skeptics" has been exactly to prevent or at least to delay the building of a consensus.  At least on the political front, a scientific consensus for AGW has existed at least since I was in grad school, in the latter 1990s.  That's when the American Geophysical Union released their consensus report.

"Critical mass" is exactly what the major energy, automotive, and other industrial powers don't want.

I don't believe consensus on GW is possible in the near term and I don't blame only a vocal minority.  It is just as much human nature when weighing risks to put off those dangers which seem further away.  We'll have a consensus only when the water level reaches our ankles.

In the meantime IMHO those who are want to build a consensus on other issues here, like getting transparency in the Fed, should not conflate with GW.

Wow, if anyone studies the Bible in any courses they have ever taken in life, that automatically rules them out if anything comes to logic, right Sam? Do you understand that 80% of us in the US, think you are the idiot? For example, Sam just thinks life poofed magically into existance via pink fairies. POOF....Sam is here.........No logic needed in that scenario.

ER... POOF!!.... I'm here!!

Now Jerry, look on the bright side, if your figures are correct, at least 20% of the U.S. population aren't totally devoid of logic!

I'll put the pink fairies 2nd on the feasable list for 'poofing' life into existance... after evolution of course.

Now if good 'ol George Carlin would just pick up that 'red' phone from 'down below'... I'm sure he'd chime in with something sensible.

Because 'mathS' is an abbreviation of 'mathematicS' at least in the rest of the English speaking world outside the U.S. (not sure about Canada)

Unless of course you do use 'mathematic' without the 's' but I've never heard that used even when in the U.S.
