This was quickly followed by Mario Draghi finally making good on his longtime threat of firing QE bazooka, announcing that the ECB will pursue a 60 billion Euro per month easing program for the next 16 months. And amidst all the smoke, the Canadian central bank snuck in a surprise rate cut to its interest rate.

To make sense of both the "Why?" behind these extreme moves, as well as the "What?" in terms of their implications, Axel Merk, founder and Chief Investment Officer of Merk Funds joins us this week.

http://www.peakprosperity.com/podcast/91582/axel-merk-why-asset-prices-must-return-lower-levels#comments Podcast Axel Merk central banks currencies ECB Federal Reserve Mario Draghi risk SNB Swiss National Bank volatility http://www.peakprosperity.com/crss/node/91582 Sat, 24 Jan 2015 20:59:03 +0000 Adam Taggart 91582 at http://www.peakprosperity.com Off The Cuff: Central Banks Gone Wild http://www.peakprosperity.com/insider/91569/cuff-central-banks-gone-wild
In this week's Off the Cuff podcast, Chris and Mish discuss:

The ECB Bazooka

Making sense of Draghi's QE announcement

The Swiss Surprise

A massive shock to the status quo

The Canadian Cut

Suddenly panicking about their asset bubbles

Making Sense Of The Madness

We're suddenly a lot closer to the endgame

http://www.peakprosperity.com/insider/91569/cuff-central-banks-gone-wild#comments Insider central banks ECB European Central Bank Mish Shedlock Off The Cuff QE quantitative easing SNB Swiss National Bank http://www.peakprosperity.com/crss/node/91569 Fri, 23 Jan 2015 15:41:23 +0000 Adam Taggart 91569 at http://www.peakprosperity.com When This Ends, Everybody Gets Hurt http://www.peakprosperity.com/blog/91558/when-ends-everybody-gets-hurt
Central bank credibility (as fictitious as that may be) is essential to maintaining the current narrative, BUT central banks are rapidly losing their credibility (which should have happened simply via deductive reasoning a long time ago) and the strains are showing.

Their actions are increasingly wild and extreme, and it's our view that 2015- 2016 will mark the end of this long run of overly-ambitious central bankers and over-complacent markets.

http://www.peakprosperity.com/blog/91558/when-ends-everybody-gets-hurt#comments Blog central banks China Chris Martenson coal economic growth economy endless growth energy GDP growth inflation limits Rule of 72 http://www.peakprosperity.com/crss/node/91558 Thu, 22 Jan 2015 03:45:38 +0000 cmartenson 91558 at http://www.peakprosperity.com What To Believe Anymore? http://www.peakprosperity.com/insider/91544/what-believe-anymore
Well, here we are in the late hours of the latest and biggest bubbles that central banks can blow. Freezing, dehydrating, canning, and storing fresh in a root cellar. I prefer freezing berries, corn, beans, peppers, peas, tomato based vegetable soup and eggplant. I like to dehydrate my herbs, early season apples and pears. Canning is great for pickles, tomato based soup (which can also be frozen), and beets. The root cellar is a great place to store your late season fruits, root vegetables and pumpkins for the winter. Onions, carrots, potatoes, parsnips, turnips, cabbage, pears, and apples do well in a root cellar.

http://www.peakprosperity.com/wsidblog/91543/storing-your-harvest-root-cellar#comments What Should I Do?
