as that time is too late in the evening for me (i imagine for some others as well), i would like to see some type of future weekend event. ragle ranch park in sebastopol seems to be a common place for outdoor gatherings.

Come to our first (and very informal) kickoff gathering.
I'm Adam (the co-founder of PeakProsperity.com) and I'll have just finished moving to Sebastopol by this time. I'm eager to meet my new neighbors and celebrate the launch of Peak Prosperity!
We'll chat over drinks at Hopmunk Tavern. I'm buying :)

We'll just have to do our evening feed and milking a bit early! Of course, us farmer types are usually in bed by 8PM... a bummer when it's not even dark yet, and you have to wait until it's dark enough to close up the chickens!!!
so we'll join you and be able to close up the chicken coop when we get home.

Amy & Jim -
Looking forward to seeing you at Hopmunk. I've been closing up my coop after 8pm since the chickens made it up here - with the late sunsets, they're reluctant to go to bed before I do!
Hey Adam, did the this event take place? I was there for about 45 minutes, but I didn't see any sign of you or anyone else from the group, assuming you look like your picture.

Now I see what happened. The time for this event was displaying as 9:30-11:00 PM, but once I signed in to the site to be able to post comments, the time updated to 6:30-8:00 PM, so it must have been displaying Eastern time by default. I thought 9:30 PM seemed kind of late for this sort of thing! Oh well, I hope those who attended had a good time. Hope to catch up with you later.
My wife and I were there at 9:30, too. We also thought it was a little late! We found another gentleman there for the meetup at 9:30, so we talked to him for a while. Next time I'll definitely check my time zone!
Ugh - I'm very sorry for the time zone snafu.
Yes, I was there from 6:30-8:30pm PST last night. One of the things I mentioned to the folks that were there was the near-term need to add some enhancements to Groups (like email alerts when a new post/comment is made). Fixing the time zone confusion now just made the top of the list.
I feel badly for those who made it at 9:30pm only not to find us. I'll happily do a repeat next week - 6:30pm PST on Thurs 8/23. If folks are interested, let me know.

I've been meaning to mention this. This is the biggest shortcoming of the new site. But can you also make the alerts show up within the site like new post in the forums do? The place this happens now is too many layers deep, and you have to go to each group individually to find them. It's just too much work to be practical. Email notices are not as good, as they flood the inbox and have to be deleted, etc. It is much better to be able to find everything from within the site while we are here.

i would've been there if i'd known it was at 6:30 not 9:30! i hope this gets fixed soon!
i'd like to see a weekend event happen sometime.

Susan, set the time zone on your profile to be Pacific. By default it is set to Eastern.
Click "My Account" at the top, then click "Edit my profile" on the right sidebar. Scroll down the page about three-quarters and you'll see it.
