Mason Jar Pour Cap

We highlighted the reCAP jar lid a while back as a great way to switch to glass mason jars for drinking and pouring your favorite beverages.  The only problem was they only had a regular mouth size available.  Well now they have the wide mouth size for us to enjoy and use on all our favorite sized jars (quart and half gallon).  My family has ordered 2 of them and they work wonderfully on the half gallon wide mouth jars we use to store our fresh goat milk.  No more drips in the bottom of the fridge and my 3 year old can now pour himself a glass of milk.  It can also be used as a jar seal with an airlock for fermenting foods.  The reCAP is a very handy item to have in the homestead kitchen.

If you are looking to get stocked up on firewood while the winter season is a distant thought and you need a splitting ax,  the Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe is a great choice.  I recently invested in this new axe after getting a free load of log rounds from a friend and I can't recommend it enough.  It is super sharp, relatively lightweight, nicely balanced, and splits like a dream.  So if you need a new axe as part of your resiliency tool set (for those with wood stoves and outdoor wood fired ovens), take a look at the Fiskars line of axes.
