Step 0: The Fundamentals - Emergency Preparedness

The instability of our global systems as laid out within The Crash Course allows us to make the following prediction confidently: The Next 20 Years Will Be Completely Unlike The Last 20

With change being the one thing we can count on, it makes great sense to prepare for it.

But what kind of change? And when will it arrive? Any how disruptive will it be?

We can conjecture as best we're able (and that's what we do on a daily basis here at PeakProsperity.com), but the actual details of the future will remain unknowable until they unfold.

Emergency Communication App - HelpBridge

I came across the following new phone app that has been added to the DailyPrep Blog as a tool to have in your preps to help communicate your status during an emergency or natural disaster and notify friends and family.  Check it out.

Emergency Communications Network: Lifenet

Lifenet seems to be a sort of "client server"-style solution to the mass communications system going down in an emergency. Instead of a big cell base station or one big router for a network, you have a bunch of independent stations that are all peer-to-peer and therefore multiple routing options.

Need to finish off my list of items I NEED to have in an emergency...but is using credit a good idea?

Hey guys,

OK second time writing this.  The garbage forum software this site uses doesn't work with Internet Explorer 9 so I can't post or copy and paste...My main question is: Is it a good idea to make a small short term (24-48) month purchase on credit if you are really concerned about an economic collapse?

What Should I Do?

The most common question by far we get on this website is “What should I do?” Once people watch The Crash Course and are awakened to the very real threats posed by Peak Oil and reckless monetary policy, they understandably want to know how to position themselves intelligently.

Our recommendation: start building resilience into your life today. Ensure that you, your family, and your community are as prepared and sustainably situated as possible so that you can enjoy a high quality of life regardless of how the future plays out. » Read more

Emergency Preparation and Food Storage Info from Lowesville Seminar

Well folks - finally - here is some of the detailed info compiled from the Lowesville seminar.  I've included info from other sources (thanks to Leroy and Robyn) as well as what was shared at Lowesville among the participants.  Some of the site links are duplicated across topics because the site has a wide variety of merchandise.  I didn't do any price comparison site to site, but we have ordered from several of the sites and can vouch for the product quality.

Hope this is of use.

What's in your "Bug-out Bag"?

The other day I signed up with a "Survivalist" group here in the Portland, OR metro area. It's actually not a "survivalist" group per se but more along the lines of a group of people preparing for the uncertain future.

The topic for their next meeting is a good one: What's in your bug-out bag?
