Ted Trainer and the Simpler Way

Here's the Editors note from this well written article From The Permaculture Research Institute of Australia. It covers the big picture of our prediciment... much in line with what Chris teaches. It would be interesting to have Chris interview Ted Trainer.

An Open versus Closed Civilization

Here's a video series I recently created that might be of interest to the CM community:

The Supreme Ordeal, an Open vs. Closed Civilization, is a three-act presentation describing the closed, dominator civilization that we've been living under for many millennia, the open and free civilization that's being born, and the converging crisis that's bringing about the transition.

The Myth of Crony Capitalism

.........."Once a pickle, never a cucumber again"....

Thrown about with much authority these days is the claim that our predicament is the result of certain anomalies, aberrant behavior, and a collection of lapses in moral principle and out of character profit seeking. Collectively, this is branded with the pejorative term "crony capitalism".
I hope to suggest that this term is meaningless and a fabrication of the times- intended to provide some means of explanation to describe what is an obviously something quite different.

Dear Ayn Rand

I posted often in the past about my distain for Ayn Rand and her theories - for that matter those who follow her lead, especially those in positions of power that enable policies to be adopted by our government.

The following link is to an article that seems to sum up much of her flawed selfish ideals

Chris Hedges Interview

Clocking in at 3 solid hours this is an investment few are likely to make.

But, at the same time,  those of us here at CM that believe that careful thought and nuance are needed in these difficult times,  it is a worthwhile investment.  I, by far, do not agree with everything Hedges has to say. He covers bits of all three Es here.   But, he captured much of my life philosophy when he talked at the near end about how military units never leave their dead or wounded behind. Very good stuff in this interview.

Wealth and Inequality – Pareto, Gini and Contingency

The nature of inequality is a topic that is getting a lot of attention these days.  It's worth taking a careful look at how inequality arises in our economy.  In fact, inequality is built into capitalism and it perpetuates itself, steadily increasing, even in the absence of greed.
