Armored Vehicles on U.S. Streets

Is it just me or is this becoming a little frieghtning? First DHS buys 1.6 billon rounds of hollow point ammo, now they've purchased 2,717 armored vehicles to patrol U.S. streets under the pretense that it's in case of search and rescue needs. So what are the gun ports and the armor for? Combine this with the new and pending gun regulations and clearly the government is preparing for some civil unrest.

Issues for urban preppers

My wife and I have made the decision to stay in our big eastern city for the next eight years, and then retire someplace small in New Hampshire.  That said, we expect to go through some rough times during these next eight years, and are prepping with that in mind.  It's not that we wouldn't bug out, it's just that it's going to take something huge to make us do that after having committed to staying.  We think it's more likely we'll weather the storm, than it is we will be forced out before we're ready to go.

Expecting trouble for the 9/11 Anniversary?

I have heard several reliable sources speak of events that are planned for the anniversary of 9/11 that they expect to elicit backlash both at home and possibly internationally.

The sources are reliable and in law enforcement,  but do tend to skew paranoid.  Has anyone else heard of any things like this?  Is anyone else planning on battening down the hatches that weekend?

Does anyone know of any specific events that  could cause a negative  response from opposing viewpoints?

Preparation for Riot Control

I just read an article in our local paper (in central Texas) about local police and sheriff departments preparing for riots.  The article said 25 agencies in a 10 county region are participating. Normally I wouldn't be too concerned about police doing more training but as I read the article I saw some things that didn't make sense.  I'm wondering if Homeland Security is preparing for something like a bank holiday, food shortages, tea party riots, etc in the near future.

Some interesting points were:

Economic Predictions - A Must Listen!!

This series on YouTube is one of the most fascinating things I've ever listened to.  Hard to describe, but Clif High of has written software that monitors language usage on millions of documents on the web and lots of other forms of media, and by noting changes in words used, makes predictions about the future.  He has been highly accurate in the past.  He explains the technology on the first tape.  Suffice  to say he makes some frightening and very specific predictions about our economy and civilization for the next few years.  These are

CiviL unrest in America!

Professor Michel Chossudovsky observed that the US Army 3rd Infantry's 1st Brigade Combat Team returned from Iraq some months ago. That information is extremely disturbing because such military unit "may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control",
according to official sources.

Is it just me or is TSHTF feeling more imminent?

Hi, Gang. I've been out of touch with this site for a few weeks now following some personal issues - first a hard drive crash and data loss, then the worst stomach flu of my life. I'm still catching up with all the blog posts and news here.
